Basically the edge of the roof. The roof itself does not have a barrier over the top to the edge. It's a flat surface, though the roof's gravel floor isn't the most comfortable thing to lie on. Four story drop, right onto the pavement below. Not that you would do that. Also a much better place to look at the stars, rather than being inside the tower. Accessible from inside the main building, or outside using the fire escape.

It was night time, and Derek was already breaking curfew again. However, he didn't feel like going into the city , not tonight. Tonight he wanted to think, just have time to himself. Walking the grounds, he saw the fire escape to the roof. Perhaps I can get up there... Jumping up, he grabbed onto the fire escape, and made his way up to the top.
It was cooler on the top, and Derek had a clear view of the entire school. He sat on the edge, and whipped out his lighter and a cig. Deftly lighting it, he inhaled and breathed out. He needed to calm his mind, because he couldn't stop thinking about Hana.
The matter of the fact was, she was probably here to stay. Unless she got caught doing something like stealing, but he knew that she was too good to get caught like that. And there was the matter of Olivia. He got a text from her saying she was out, and was now find. Derek wasn't sure if he could face her, he felt as if it was his fault. He knew it wasn't, but it still didn't make it any easier.
Homecoming was also coming up. He'd been nominated for Lord, hah. He didn't think that would ever happen. But he also needed a date. He wasn't sure to ask, things were too awkward with Anna, things were awkward with Artemis because of Anna, and Toshie and Rhys seemed to start building up a relationship. There was always Tahlah. She was a sweet girl, Derek probably didn't deserve her. Flipping out his phone, he debated texting her. Derek didn't. He slid his phone back into his pocket, and continued to smoke.

For some reason or another, the roof was no accessible to students; although, probably usually not around this time. Ethan made his way out to the roof via the fire escape, since the door from the inside was locked. It was a lovely night tonight, luckily Ethan always had his sketchbook with him.
He turned to see that Derek was out here as well, How strange... Sort of. "Hey there," he called out quietly so as to keep from drawing attention to them up there. "Nice night out huh?" he sat near the edge as he pulled out his sketchbook and pencil.

Pushing his cigarette into the gravel, Derek lifted a hand to acknowledge Ethan. "Can't sleep either?" Derek scooted back, and lay back with his feet dangling over the side. Smoking was a nasty habit for him, so he started to breathe in the fresh air as best he could. Looking up to the stars, it felt tranquil, calm. "Yeah, it's beautiful night." It was a night where Derek could finally stop worrying. Olivia was okay and he finished his contract. So why did he feel stressed and keep worrying?
Out of the blue, and still staring up, he asked, "Do you ever feel... like you can't do enough?"

Lyra made it to the roof, following Ethan's method (although she was not following him) and climbed up the fire escape. Lyra was slightly surprised that she saw two other people here. Happy to see that one was Ethan. WAS HE WAITING FOR A GIRL?! "Hey boys," Lyra waved to them. "Nice to see you two up here," she said, walking over to Ethan since Derek was off... she didn't know what.

"Hey Lyra. And no, I'm not on anything. Just slightly depressed." Derek figured out what she was thinking just from how she looked at him. They've spent enough time together for Derek to do that sort of thing. Not to mention he could read some people like an open book. Lyra was easy to read, but Ethan? Not so much. Turning back to the sky, Derek sighed deeply. And kept mulling over his problems.

"That's the inexplicable feeling all humans feel almost... all the time I think." He said, looking back at Derek with a kind smile, "Why do you ask?" Soon he heard wonderful Lyra's voice and felt like the heavens had called to him.
"Hey," he hugged Lyra and gave her a peck on the cheek, nothing excessive since Derek was there, "How's your day been? I feel like I haven't seen you in days!"

Chuckling, he always liked seeing the two together. It was love, and Derek on the inside was a hopeless romantic. If only I could find my own someday. Like Ha- Derek quickly shook that thought out of his head. No use dwelling on past mistakes.
Derek pulled his legs back up, and sat crosslegged on the gravel. He scratched his head, and proceeded to answer Ethan's previous question, "I'm not too sure myself. I guess I've been having a few personal problems lately that I can't fix."

Ethan put his sketchbook and pencil aside and sat back on the palms of his hands, "Care to share? We're all ears and don't judge. You should know that by now though, haha." He laughed kindly and just gave a goofy grin. They were all friends right? He knows Lyra had been spending lots of time with Derek due to the Dance Committee, but Ethan himself had never really had the chance to talk to Derek. Now was better than any other time, so why not?

Derek chuckled, and turned his body toward the couple. "I guess I can, if I really could figure out what was bothering me. I mean, I've been so worried about Olivia since she's gone in a coma, but now she's out I can't face her for some reason. I feel like it's my fault she was in the coma, like I should of been there to protect her. And there's the issue of the new girl on campus..."

"There's a new girl?" Lyra tilted her head as she snuggled up to Ethan, holding his hand as her head turned to Derek's movement. "Seems a little late for transfers," but it was September and who knows, maybe they were running late on vacation. "As for Olivia, I'd try to keep an eye on her at a distance," Lyra said, "if she sees you there all the time, who knows how she would act, then again, I'm not sure of how she is, I've only seen her during the parties."

"Well, not to sound too cliche, but you gotta face her at some point, right? You two seemed pretty close after all." Ethan quirked a brow when Derek mentioned that a new girl was there, "A new girl? I haven't seen her yet then, what's your issue with that?" This school was getting stranger and stranger, late transfers, students dying, orbs of mystical power. What else can happen here?
He coddled Lyra as a cool breeze drifted by, lacing his fingers between hers.

Derek wasn't sure if he should... tell the truth about his past. He trusted both Ethan and Lyra, so summoning the courage, he took a deep breath, and spoke. "I should tell you two the truth. My past, isn't really true. It's true my parents died a long time ago, and I moved in with my uncle. My uncle though, was a drunkard and a violent one at that. He regularly hit me, and I spent most of my time away from the house. However, he died two years ago. Officially, he's missing, but I know he's dead. Please don't ask why. But for two years, I was homeless. I lived on the street, and that's really how I know most of my skills."
Derek jerked his head toward the halls, and continued, "The new girl, Hana, was the one who took me in first after I was homeless. She taught me most of everything I know, how to manipulate people, how to steal, how to run. The whole nine yards. Thing is, she has no morals. At all. We fought over that, and she ended up leveling the building we lived in. As you can guess, we didn't part on good terms."

Students dying. Thank god Ethan was alive. She was so happy that he didn't do anything silly or stupid. "If you gave her a tour you might end up dating her," Lyra giggled and squeezed Ethan's hand. Oh cutesey relationship references. They were so nice while they lasted. "But Ethan does have a point, you do have to face her."
As Derek explained his past, Lyra frowned and furrowed her brows. She didn't know how to react. The information was sudden and it was awkward. And Lyra was practically a cyborg when it came to depressing pasts or deaths so she was silent. "Well," she took a breath. She ignored the living on the streets part completely and commented on the new girl, "that must be awkward."

Ethan chuckled and nuzzled his nose softly against Lyra's, "Just maybe you will haha."
He looked at Derek, mouth agape from the story he was just told. He stuttered a bit, "W-wow. Man, that must have been rough. At least she took you in though.. right?" Then he heard the rest of the story, "Oh, ouch." Ethan winced as he imagined some crazy devil girl destroying a home, "Well... how did you feel about her then? and what is it about her now that makes you so uncomfortable knowing that she's here?"
Geez, what was this, psychotherapy time or something? Eh, Ethan didn't mind.
