"Thank god that student dorms have late night dining! I love fried food fixes! Dorm life is the best!" Lyra exclaimed, rather or not sarcasm was present was unknown. Lyra carried her chicken fingers to the table after getting a sprite to drink. She waited for Tobias and opened the mayonnaise packet and put it on the plate to dip her fries in. "So what should we do on New Years Eve?" Lyra asked.

Tobias walked casually up to the table, a tray of food seemingly floating beside him. In truth, a bit of shadow was supporting the tray, but the effect was still effective; except at a school for supers, it wasn't that cool. Tobias nodded at Lyra's declaration regarding dorm life. He sighed and pulled a chair out before unceremoniously flopping down into it. His tray gently landed on the table. Tobias turned the tablespoon of shadow he was manipulating into a solid chess piece, more specifically, a knight, and placed this in his jeans pocket. "I don't have any plans for NYE, so anything you want to do is fine with me," TK responded to Lyra. He picked up a fry, inspected it, then ate it with a bored look on his face.

Lyra nodded when Tobias talked. She dipped a french fry in mayo and wiggled it in front of Tobias. "Try it. Try it. Try it." Lyra said but then put the french fry in her mouth before dipping another one in mayo to give to Tobias. "How come we aren't home for New Years? That seems all to weird. Let's go to Disneyland for New Years, that will be fun. Try the french fry!" Lyra exclaimed. There was nothing in Oceanside. It was so tiny.

Tobias narrowed his eyes as he stared down the wiggling french fry in front of him. "No,' he said flatly. "I don't want to try your icky fries," he told Lyra for what must have been the thousandth time. He grabbed a bottle of ketchup and made a small pool of it on his plate for his own fries. "I know you love Disneyland, but you know we can't afford to go and especially on such short notice." Tobias let out a sigh and looked towards the ceiling. Even though he told Lyra it wasn't possible, he agreed with her idea. It was weird to be stuck at school for NYE. He wished something fun would happen, but things had changed a lot at Oceanside and it wasn't the place he remembered.

"Don't you have money for Christmas?! Eh, too lazy to drive to Anaheim," Lyra leaned over the table and rested her chin on the palm of her and dipped the chicken finger in honey mustard. "Remember when we signed up to fight and it never happened?" Lyra said with a chuckle. Oh good times, good times. "The paint job at the school is kind of weird. It's a different pace," she said.

"I want something interesting to happen around here. It's gotten kinda dull lately," Tobias remarked. He was halfway through his fries. "Oceanside had gone through a lot changes since we've been here." He motioned to the painted walls, as Lyra had mentioned. "But that's not the only thing. It's almost like the student populace has lost all of its drive and life."
