Missed the Assembly? Here's the Headmistress' speech straight forward:
Welcome to a new year at Oceanside School for the Gifted. I'm Headmistress Annabella, if any of you need to contact me you have my number posted in your common rooms. Now, I hope you all enjoyed your vacation and are prepared for the new school year, or as prepared as you can be. Now, Headmistress Maria is going to be giving you some information about the school.
Oceanside School for the Gifted is a school for particularly gifted young adults. And we're not just talking gifts in mathematics or art. Every single person on this campus has a gift. An ability. Something that makes them... super.
For four years, each and every one of you gets to spend a good amount of time each day learning about your powers. Some of you have Physical powers; powers that affect your personal body. They may enable you to walk through walls, hear miniscule sounds, or even fly. Some of you have Manipulation powers; you may be able to control the elements, or bend time and space. And some of you have Mental powers; You can see the future, or understand anything in an instant.
Yes, each one of you has a power. A power that makes you super. And since 1935, Oceanside School for the Gifted has helped house, train, and protect young people with super abilities.
There are to be no drugs or alcohol on campus. No pornography on the premises, or anything as inappropriate. Any damage to school property that you cause must be compensated for. Being rude to any of the staff members is not in your best interest. And of course, going near the room at the back of the fourth floor will get you killed, or worse, expelled. You all have been warned.
To those of you who are new or have forgotten, there is to be no use of your powers outside of school, unless a life threatening emergency occurs. By using your powers outside of school, you will be creating suspicion and may be the cause of this school being shut down. And of all of these students being taking and tested on. I trust all of you know to make the right decision.
You should all have received a class schedule by now. If you have not, or if you have a problem with your schedule, come find me in my office. Now, on your schedule you will notice that there are 8 classes per day. Unless you are ill or have another approved reason, you are required to attend all of your classes. Classes run from 7:15 AM to 2:45 PM, though most of you will start your classes at Eight O'Clock. Breakfast is served from 6 to 8 AM. Lunch is from 11 to 11:45 AM, and dinner is served from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
Save for those of you who only arrived within the past couple of days, I'm sure that many of you have enjoyed trips into the city. And that is wonderful. However, during school, you are not permitted off campus. This does not mean that after your last class you may go into the city. The hours that you may be in the city are as follows:
Friday, from 2:45 PM to 10:00 PM. Saturday, from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. And Sunday, from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM. If you are caught out of school at any time other than those hours, you will be punished. Going into the City is a privilege, not a right.
Now, curfews. Every morning, you may not leave your hall before 5 AM. Sunday through Thursday nights, curfews are as follows: In your Hall by 9 PM, in a room of your gender by 10 PM, and in your room by 11 PM. On Fridays, Saturdays, and during vacations, everything is pushed back an hour. So; In your Hall by 10 PM, in a room of your gender by 11 PM, and in your room by 12 PM.
Remember, curfews are here for your safety, and disobeying them may result in something much worse than detention.
On a more interesting note, fights in the arena are open for you to sign up for. Simply fill out the application in the Arena and once a partner is available either Headmistress Maria or I will tell you. To get ready, there is a practice room in the Arena. Inside is also a sparring area, this is the only place besides the arena where you should be using your powers in an offensive manner.
As most of you know, there is a room on the fourth floor at the back. This room is strictly forbidden to all students and staff members who do not wish to die an extremely painful death. Inside of this room is something... sacred, if you will. Sacred, but very, very dangerous. The mere knowledge that there is something there puts you all at risk... There are people in this world who do not approve of us- people with abilities. Many of them call us 'Mutants'. These people will do anything that they can to take away our powers and abilities. There are several safe-houses distributed across the world, and Oceanside is one of them. But tonight, I must remind you that each day, every hour, this very minute, even, dark forces attempt to penetrate these safe havens. But in the end, both their greatest enemy and their greatest weapon remains you.
Nevertheless, treat Oceanside as not only a school or a home, but as a sacred place where you can always find strength and protection, for there is no better place. Thank you, and I look forward to a wonderful year.
"I'm the book of all books,
the one that started it all
Of a time that's since passed,
I help you recall!
Many stories I hold,
the best of them all,
Though some of them, indeed,
have caused many a brawl.
What am I?"
