She nodded at Vergil's question and smiled to make him stop worrying. "I ahm allright," she said, "thanks to you, that is." Toshie bowed slightly in thanks to Vergil and just looked at the strange, older boy who was now yelling at another older boy.

"Uh-huh, I'm sure that's exactly what the problem was," Ethan said, his tone filled to the brim with anger. "Hey, kid!" he motioned for the boy and his friend to come over, "I have a question for you!"

"Yu du noht nheed tu bohw tu me, Fräulein Mahkeenahmi. Ahs a freund, I ahm hahpe tu be ov survice," Vergil returned her smile feeling better when she did.
He turned out of instinct when he heard Ethan call to someone aloud and found himself being spoken to, thus he grabbed Toshie's hand gently and walked over to him.

What easy buttons to push... Rhys thought, amused by Ethan's apparent anger. He wondered why he called Vergil and his friend over, though, and watched as they came closer.

Ethan waited until the two got to him and he looked at them seriously, "Uh... Vergil! Did this guy over here send you any 'messages' about the frisbee?"
Ethan, maybe you're overreacting to this a bit, he contemplated, On the other hand, what if Rhys really did aim for Vergil, what kind of guy would do that? Intentionally trying to hurt some kid. Ethan stood there waiting for an answer keeping Rhys in his peripheral vision.

Tobias was broken from his trance once he heard Tari call out to him. He looked up and waved to her and Artemis. He didn't move from his spot. He just stared at the pair of girls for a moment before pulling his knees close to his chest and resting his head on them. Tobias closed his eyes.
No shadow. Not like Tari and Artemis. He inhaled and felt the cold night air fill his lungs. The icy chill stung, but he was already numbed to the feeling. Had he been fully aware, Tobias would have noticed how uncomfortable he was sitting against he ridged base of the lamppost. He licked at his dry lips.
Tobias could never really be like everyone else ever again. Not after he discovered his powers. He shuddered at the memory of his initial awakening. The fear, the pain, the realization of what had really happened... The mindless, unrelenting hunger for his life that stemmed from his own shadow... It was horrific. Tobias hadn't expected his own shadow to hate him in such a way that only his death would give it a sense of fulfillment. Was that even the right way of putting it? A shadow couldn't think or feel or desire anything. After all, it was a shadow.

Vergil looked between the older boys and placed Toshie a little behind him again, "Vhat ess ett yu vant, Herr Ee-thuhn..?" He mulled over what to answer and decided to cover for Rhys if only unintentionally. Rhys had apologized for the incident and said he had spoken to him about tossing it over.. If it had not been for part of him being alert all the time, it would have struck one of them.
"Vhell I vas suhposed tu ghet a mehsaj buht perhahps," glancing to Rhys he continued, "Herr Gehrard's ahbilitees fahltured him."

Wondering why Tobias wasn't replying, she walked over to him, slightly concerned. She knelt down and looked at him,"You okay?", she asked. He seemed like he had something really troubling on his mind.

Artemis stayed out of everything that was happeneing with Vergil the girl Ethan and Rhys. She inhaled looking around. She saw Tobias turn back and wave to them. Did tari call to him? She thoguth. Was she that zoned out she didnt hear Tari who was right next to her. What was she even thinking about.Tobias...Rhys... The names kept repeating over in her head. It began to hurt. Artemis clasped her hands over her had almost falling out of the swings. It was pissing her off. Artemis stopped swinging as she stood up.
She stayed at the swings for a minute.Artemis who are you...what is wrong with you your going soft on these people. Thats not you. Your not soft, you dont laugh and play and say hi...These people are getting to you She let out a soft sigh as she spoke to herself in her head. It was the only place she felt safe...not knowing who or what could hear her thoughts.
Artemis extended her hand with a light flame soon letting it drop to the floor as it dispersed into nothing. She closed ehr eyes creating vines that followed her for a bit as her eyes perked up to see Tobias still alone.
Artemis inhaled as she went over and created a boulder to sit on."Tobias?" She whispered lightly. Her accent was thick at night. She wondered if he was well.

Tobias looked up at Tari and Artemis. Two of his friends had come to check on him. They cared about his wellness. He felt a sudden rush of emotions, but tried to hide it. Unfortunately, his glistening eyes betrayed him as he looked from one girl to the other. "Do you notice anything strange about me?" he asked Tari and Artemis, his voice faltering. He swallowed and controlled his breathing. He wasn't about to break down in front of the girls.
Stop it. You're not alone. You have friends. he told himself. Tobias closed his eyes momentarily to regain his composure.

After calling Vergil and his friend over, Ethan tried to verify Rhys' story. Vergil believed what Rhys told him, however, and assumed that his power had, for some reason, not worked.
"See?" he said to Ethan, "Totally in good fun. Besides, Vergil and I have met before, albeit shortly" he said with a sly grin. "I haven't met your friend yet, though" gesturing to the girl behind him. "I'm Rhys, a second year. Same age as this guy, though. Are you also new?" he said to her, leaning a little to see behind Vergil and giving a short wave.

She looked at Tobias, he seemed really upset. She looked around him,"Other than your face?", she asked, jokingly,"No, I don't. Should I?", she said, serious this time. She noticed Artemis had moved to sit near them as well.

Artemis then saw Tari next to Tobias as well. She leaned down as Tobias spoke to them. Something was wrong but what... She looked down at herself then over to trari. "Tobias..whats wrong?" She repeated. She never noticed anything wrong with Tobias..why would he ask such a strange question. She raised a brow as she placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "No Tobias..I dont see anything" She said blantly. She really didnt see anything. Was there something Tobias was hiding? She shrugged it off not letting her own thoughts get clouded up in this mess. Right now it seemed Tobias needed her.

Tobias shook his head and sullenly covered his face with his hand. He didn't know what to tell the girls. It wasn't something he wanted to point out. If they realized that he was shadowless than they would always see him that way. They would always see him differently. The only person who knew everything was Lyra.
Tobias felt Artemis's hand rest on his shoulder. That small act of compassion pushed him over the edge of his weakened emotional barrier. A few shining tears ran down his face and made little blots on the sidewalk's surface. He rubbed his eyes wearily and laughed. He laughed louder and louder until he probably seemed like a lunatic. It didn't matter. Did anything matter?
Tobias fell silent and wiped his face with his jacket sleeve. Sniffling a bit, he spoke slowly, "I'm sorry. Both of you are very kind for coming over here. I apologize for my loss of control."

Artemis got off of her place where she sat and slowly moved in front of Tobias hand still on his shoulder. She saw him cover his face and wondered what was wrong. She sat there silent as she saw Tobias begin to cry...Him Cry. He didnt seem like that. Did she do something? Artemis took back her hand as he wiped his face. She looked at him blankley as he began to laugh. Was he alright...what was happeneing. She bit her lip taking his hands in hers. His sleeves were wet fro him. "Tobias dont say your sorry...what it is" She said squeezing his hands. "Please, look at me." She told hijavascript:add("","")m. Artemis stayed right in front of him as they others were with vergil.
Her eyes gluued to his. "Please" She repeated. You weak, and pathetic loser. Get away...your fraternizing with the enemy. Get up...you never get on your knees not even to an allie thats all he is, not your friend but an acquaintance She closed her eyes a bit shaking her own thoughts from her self. It wasnt reality and right now. Tobias needed her.
