This is the inside of the dining hall, it is on the first/ground floor of the recreational building. There are 13 diagonal tables where the students sit and one long horizontal table at the back of the hall where the staff and HMs sit. There is a podium where the Headmisstresses may make announcements.

Izzy leaned against the wall boredly watching the students eat their lunches and laugh with their friends. Occasionally, she'd pop into someone's head just to see what they where really thinking. When she was bored this was quite entertaining to Izzy. Her social skills needed help, but she wasn't a complete loner. She could talk to someone if they approached her first but would never approach anyone herself. Izzy folded her arms and propped one foot on the wall. She closed her eyes and started to hum a song she'd heard recently.

Peter walked into the dining hall looking for something to eat. He looked around the massive room, at all of the tables and students. He found it a bit overwhelming that every single person in the room had some sort of power- it was almost magical. He walked along a wall, continuing to look around instead of looking forward, causing him to run into a girl who had been leaning against the wall. "Oh, I'm so sorry," he said to her, embarrassed.

Izzy was jolted from her day dream as someone had run into her. She looked to find a guy looking very embarassed and apologizing. She laughed lightly and shrugged,"It's ok. I probably shoulda seen it coming." She smirked at her own joke and looked up at the boy. "Izzy. You are?" she asked her southern twang coating her words.

"No, I should have been looking where I was going," he said apologetically. "I'm Peter. It's nice to meet you Izzy." He wondered why she was standing against the wall. Perhaps she was waiting for someone, or just had nothing better to do.

"Well Peter, I'm kind of glad you ran into me. Gives me something to do," Izzy said truthfully. She didn't know his powers and would be quite embarassed if they were anything like hers. She ran her hand through her hair like she always did and leaned against the wall again. "So, what brings you to the Dining Hall?" she asked smiling at him.

Tobias entered the dining hall, picked up a cup of coffee, a piece of toast, some scrambled eggs, and a few pieces of bacon. He found an empty table and sat down to his modest breakfast. Sipping the hot coffee, TK smiled at the thought of a good day ahead of him. All around him, other students were either eating or talking animatedly. Everything felt normal.

"I swear this is the only way I'd ever eat breakfast," Lyra said as she lowered her arm for the plate to scoot off her arm with a shake. She sat down with her cup of chocolate milk and took a sip, looking down at TK's plate of food."I really don't understand how you can drink coffee," Lyra's voice echoed through the cup. She looked down at her food of hash brown squares, sausage patties, and a doughnut. So maybe TK's plate was healthier, but Lyra's looked more delicious to her. "Hey TK, I have a question... I've been hearing things that you'be been gone at night. What are you doing?" she raised an eyebrow at her friend. She sounded skeptical, but didn't want to accuse TK of doing anything... bad.

Tobias looked up at Lyra as she sat down and waited for her to speak. He grinned happily. "You make it sound like I'm sneaking out of the house to go do drugs or something," he replied. Another sip of coffee made its way past TK's lips. In truth, he had only just begun to go out at night again. After a few close calls early on, Tobias had stopped going on night patrols, but something had convinced him to try again recently. Someone apparently had noticed and notified Lyra. Now he had to decide whether or not to tell her the truth.
TK pondered for a moment and chewed slowly on a bite of toast to buy himself time. "I don't want to lie to you, Lyra. You're my closest friend," Tobias paused, hesitating for a moment before continuing, "I've been doing a bit of hero work." It sounded dumb when spoken out loud. "I mean to say that I've been going out and helping people if they're in trouble. You know, like a hero?" Tobias shrugged. There. It was out in the open and he only had to wait for her reply.

"You're doing hero work? Then why hasn't your alignment changed?!" Lyra laughed at TK's original reply. If only it was drugs she thought TK was out doing... he was very good at keeping secrets. When TK began his original explanation, Lyra stopped eating. Her meal lost all interest to her. She slouched forward and held her hands. Lyra's hands felt clammy. What was she expecting to hear from TK? "Like a hero?" Lyra's voice was almost at a whisper now. "What do you mean by hero work? Helping old ladies cross the street? Or you're beating up people who are trying to mug old ladies?"

Tobias chuckled at Lyra. "A little bit of both I guess, but to be honest, there aren't a lot of old ladies walking around during the darkest parts of the night."
He realized that his explanation had upset her. "Don't worry about me," he reassured her. "I've been practicing defensive use of my abilities and I always keep my shadow close." He motioned to the vial residing in his pocket which housed his sleeping shadow. It wasn't like he was going to fight a whole gang of villains.

TK, once again, entered the dining hall. He moved through the crowd of students eating lunch and picked up a plate of food. With his food balanced in one hand, TK grabbed a water bottle and found a free table. He sat down and picked up his grilled cheese sandwich. The toasted bread felt warm in his hands and the gooey cheese stretched into thin strings as he ripped the sandwich in half. Taking a bite of one half, Tobias looked around the dining hall to see if anyone he knew was nearby.

Tari walked into the dining hall and picked up a salad and a water bottle, not feeling too hungry today. She scanned the room for some familiar faces, spotting TK, she smiled and walked over. She set her tray down at the table and sat down, "Hey there", she greeted him. It'd been a while since they had talked now that she thought about it.

TK sat up straight as Tari approached. He smiled back at her and returned her greeting. "Hello stranger," he teased. Tobias sipped at his drink before continuing. "How have you been? I can't even remember the last time we talked," said Tobias. He picked up his sandwich and took another bite as he waited for Tari to respond. Students moved all around them, chattering and eating and shouting.

Tari took a sip of her water and smiled, she had missed his easy manner,"I've been good, sort of busy, but good overall", she replied, "How was your break and whatnot?", she asked before taking a bite of her salad. While waiting for TK to reply she took a look around the cafeteria, Oceanside had been rather quiet as of late. Doubt that's going to last long, she thought to herself. This old school always had something up its sleeve.
