"I'm running out of quarters," Lyra muttered to herself as she inserted five quarters in the washing machine. The laundry room with seven washers and seven dryers was empty, only Tobias and Lyra occupying the room. "I'll have to get more change," she decided, but she wouldn't do that till later. She had about three or so loads of laundry left before she needed more money. "We haven't hung out in a while," Lyra said to Tobias, turning to him as she bent down to grab Tobias' darks and put them in the washer, then reached for her own laundry bin to put her darks in there. Lyra looked over at the window, seeing a faint reflection, thinking she looked like a train wreck with her dark blue hoodie and grey sweatpants rolled up to her knees, wearing fuzzy socks with her hair thrown up in a pony tail. It was cold in the laundry room.
Now if Lyra and Tobias were college students doing laundry at 1 in the morning, that would be different but these two had to wake up in the morning. Eh, Lyra was lucky Tobias was up or else she would be bored to death. And Tobias got free laundry out of seeing her, so it all worked out. She knew Tobias hated doing his own laundry. "We had our first StuCo meeting today," Lyra said as she shut the door of the machine, pressing the "Darks" button and putting in the laundry detergent. She clapped her hands and rubbed them together before sitting down on a seat, "got some coolish things planned for next week."

Tobias sat on the edge of an unused washing machine and watched Lyra. He didn't like doing laundry, so he always took the chance to have Lyra do it for him. It was chilly in the laundry room, so TK pulled his hood over his head.
Yawning, Tobias eyed a lacy thong amidst Lyra's darks. "You wear stuff like that?" Tobias asked her with a questioning look. TK supposed all girls must wear underwear like that, but he'd never really thought Lyra would wear such clothing.

"Hm?" Lyra looked up at Tobias as she crossed her legs, looking up at her friend. "What are you talking about?" Lyra could feel her face go red, she tried to play coy about what TK was referring to, but she had a thought that it had to deal with her personal belongings such as panties and bras. Lyra didn't want any clarification on what he was talking about. She felt embarrassed and uneasy, but what if Tobias wasn't referring to anything like that? No. It was the tone in his voice. "I wash your boxers, so shush."

Tobias shrugged and swung his legs back and forth. "I hope you don't wear those for Ethan." His eyes narrowed as he said Lyra's 'boyfriend's' name.
He chuckled, to show Lyra he was joking (OR WAS HE?!). TK's eyes wandered around the room. He noticed a stray sock sitting alone on a washing machine. It was a pretty normal laundry room. "Do you ever wonder what it'd be like to go to a normal school?"

"You never know," Lyra scrunched her eyes and her nose flared, her voice almost flirtatious as she eyed Tobias, "I might have worn them for you one day~" her voice TRAILED OFF in a sing-song voice as her index finger twirled in a circle on the table. Her eyes darted away from Tobias before looking back at him, wanting to invite him to ask more questions about the subject. But Lyra did not want that to happen, she had a boyfriend and she loved Ethan very much. Lyra was comfortable around Tobias and sometimes the conversation was not in the best tone or taste. "Anyways," her voice cleared and Lyra picked off a lint fuzz off her sock, "has the dorm food been giving you shits lately?" Lyra asked TK. Hopefully he was open to talk about it. Yeah, from lingerie to shits. Great convo switcher.

Tobias's expression became one of confusion as he looked back at Lyra. "Huh?"
What was this girl talking about now? Is she trying to imply something? Ugh, girls... Never 100% sure of anything they say...
"Dorm food is always risky for my stomach. I've been okay lately, but that could quickly change," TK responded with a nod. Yup, they were casually talking about pooping.

"I don't know those Sloppy Joes were serious when they said sloppy," Lyra frowned and puckered her lips, holding her stomach as if she felt the warning signs coming again. But that was yesterday and Lyra reminded herself to not eat those ever again. "Anyways," her voice was lighter, change of topic again, "to what you were saying; about regular high school. I mean, I guess I do?" Lyra was unsure of her answer, so she changed it, "yeah. I do. I mean, I think it would prepare us more for real life, if anything, and I'm not saying Oceanside doesn't, but I'd like to live like a normal teenager too. I mean, this school is great for teaching me how to control my powers and everything but I wonder what I'm missing out on," she slightly shrugged. Lyra was unsure of what to say. If regular high school was anything like middle school, Lyra would take up Oceanside any day. "But I don't care," Lyra held her hands and looked back at her friend, "because you have been at my side since day one here, and I wouldn't have it any other way," Lyra grinned, her eyes lighting up at Tobias, thankful for the friendship they shared.
