Natalie Jean Simmons
( The Basics )
( Full Name) Natalie Jean Simmons
( Nickname ) Nat, Nate, Simmons, Natty-Cakes, “the girl with the face”. Nat will respond to nearly anything, though she prefers Nat or Nate.
( Age ) 15
( Birthdate ) April 1st
( Sex ) Female
( Hometown ) A small faming community close to Grand Prairie, Alberta
( Class ) Freshman
( Sexuality ) Undecided
( Played By ) Jordan Todoesy
( Their Power)
( Ability ) Power Augmentation: By just using a bit of willpower, Nat can increase another gifted’s power. But by how much the power increases is uncontrollable. Nat could affect two gifted at once, and both their power levels will rise differently. An example; Nat decides to affect a hydrokinetic and a pyromancer. While the pyro might gain the strength of a volcano, the hydro might not even feel a change. Most of the time the increases are small. The increases only last as long as Nat wills it or as long as the other person is in view (she has to see them to help them). Nat’s power also allows her to jump start latent abilities in gifteds.
Force Fields: Nat can also create mental force fields. They can block against physical and elemental (includes energy beams and such) attacks, while they are useless against attacks that go straight for the mind (possession, ect). But seeing as Nat isn’t trained properly, her force fields range in how much damage they can take. Sometimes it takes one good whack while other times they are nearly invincible. More often than not, the force fields are fairly weak. Nat’s force fields are a solid, invisible wall with a small range, usually only able to surround herself.
( Type of Power ) Mental
( Weakness ) Nat can‘t use her force fields if she is increasing someone’s power and vice versa. She isn’t much of a physical opponent either. And as stated before, Nat cannot control her powers well; they are usually weak when she uses them.
( Good vs. Evil ) Neutral.
( Personality )
Growing up in redneck central with a bunch of boys turned Nate into a tomboy. She loves getting dirty, playing sports and just being outside. Nate is loud and blunt; preferring honesty (even when it hurts) to listening to lies. She will take all types of insults, putting up a front to pretend they don‘t bother her. But she will get wickedly defensive if a friend or something she believes in is insulted. Even then though, Nate has a tendency to forgive and forget; she‘ll hear something nasty, respond in turn then come back a day later and apologize.
It wasn’t until she met her aunt did Nat become somewhat girly. She saw how all the girls out in the “real world” looked and couldn’t help but feel self conscious. So while she is still loud and willing to participate in sports, a negative comment can pretty much stop her for the moment. But also in meeting her aunt, Nat realized that she didn’t need to be tied down, that she could be a free spirit. Nate loves being able to do what she wants, when she wants and will argue with anyone that says so otherwise. She doesn’t like rules and could be considered a rebel. Also in living with her “act like a teen” aunt, Nat never had a chance to mature. She’s still irresponsible and tells lies to protect herself.
Living in two very different worlds affected Nat greatly. She realized she was far too loud and full of ideas to be a simple country girl. She also realized she wasn’t cut out to be a city girl; Nat cared far too much about what people think of her and couldn’t keep up with styles and trends.

( Little Details )
( Strengths) Growing up on a farm with a bunch of “Rednecks”, Nate learned a bunch of different skills. She‘s a decent shot with long barrel firearms, can drive various vehicles and such other things. Nate has quite a bit of street smarts and values it greatly.
( Weaknesses ) One of Nat‘s biggest weaknesses, is that she isn‘t the brightest crayon in the box. Being home schooled on a farm made it difficult to get school in. Nat knows basic math and how to read and write, but that’s about it.
( Dark Secrets) Nat caused her sister‘s “accident”. Its Nat‘s fault, though she didn’t mean too, that her sister is brain dead.
( Reputation ) Not much other than she is a new kid.
( Family)
( Mother ) Julie Ann Simmons (nee Rivers), 45, housewife/farmer. Nat and her mother used to get along great. But after the “accident” when Katie was 16 and Nat was 13, Julie Ann decided it was best for Nat to leave their home. Julie Ann tried hard to think that Katie’s accident was because of an illness. But when she returned home from the hospital to see her other daughter playing with force fields, Julie Ann couldn’t help but send her away.
( Father ) Christopher Simmons, 52, farmer. Chris and his youngest child, Nat, had always been distant. He wasn‘t proud of her like he was of his sons and he wasn‘t protective over her like her was of his other daughter. When Chris found out of Nat‘s powers, he pretended not to notice; refusing to believe one of his own children was a freak. But he agreed with his wife, that Nat should be sent away.
( Siblings ) Katie, 18. Katie has powers as well, some sort of powerful telepathy that would cause terrible headaches. Neither Julia Ann nor Chris believes Katie had powers and that her headaches were from some sort of illness or her just being a frail child. Before Nat realized she had powers, she would hang around with Katie and her headaches would get worse. Much worse. The “accident” happened the day Nat used her force fields for the first time. She was excited and ran to show her sister. But instead on creating a force field, Nat amplified Katie‘s powers causing a migraine so terrible it sent Katie to hospital. That event pushed Katie over the deep end, headaches and powers disappearing in exchange for her becoming brain dead.
Three brothers: Christopher Jr., 25. Owen, 23. Aaron, 20. None of them talk to Nat after hearing of her powers and she doesn‘t mind; Nat was never close with any of her brothers.
( Any Other) Victoria Rivers, 39, band member, Nat's aunt. Nat gets along well with her Aunt Vicki, seeing as they lived together after Nat was kicked out. Vicki has a dream to be famous and has spent her years travelling around the states looking for her big break. She works as a singer/guitarist for various, nameless bands. When Nate came to live with her aunt, see was swept up in her busy lifestyle. Living with whatever boyfriend her aunt had at the time, long road trips, hanging around in the back of bars, ect. Vicki didn’t seem to care that Nat had powers but when she heard of Oceanside she figured it would be best for Nat to go there. Nat agreed to go to the school; she wanted to be able to control her powers more than she wanted to be able to travel.
( Belongings )
( Car ) None
( Phone ) Back LG Keybo
( Music ) Second Generation iPod Nano, silver with a cracked screen and scratches all over.
( Anything Else) A second hand, black HP notebook and a box of souvenirs from traveling with her Aunt.
(Sample)
“Aw, come on Natty-cakes, its going to look cute. Just let me try a little?” Vicki said to Nat, bottles of hair dye in hand.
“But I don’t want to be ‘cute’.” Nat responded, pushing away her Aunt’s hands from her brown hair with one hand, the other being used to eat cereal, “I’m tough, I’m unique, not some cute, preppy, whatever.” She rolled her eyes, remembering a certain blonde headed, cheerleader daughter of her aunt’s last boyfriend.
Vicki threw up her arms exasperatedly, letting out a long sigh. “Fine then Nat, just figured you wanted a change before starting at Oceanside. You know, mix it up a little?” She set the dyes on the edge of the table and waked out of the room. Nat returned to her cereal, though she was still eyeing the hair dye. She reached out a hand to pick some up and read the labels; Vicki had carried quite a few into the room. Midnight Black? Purple Magic? California Sun? Burnt Orange? Platinum Blonde? What was Aunt Vicki planning to do? Nat began picturing some of the possibilities; with one standing out that she really liked.
A shout from the next room pulled Nate from her thoughts, her aunt was leaving for the afternoon for some reason or another. Quickly downing the last of her cereal, Nat grabbed a few bottles of dye and made her way to the bathroom. She was sure what she had in mind wouldn’t be cute, it’d be perfect.
{lame ending is lame, bleh}
