Some (who either have the natural talent/training) can use this energy to their advantage, enhancing the speed, strength, reflexes, healing rate etc. of their body. Most chi users will specialize in one of those different techniques, although a basic knowledge of all is required to pass as a proper chi user.

Hair colour & Style: Dark, almost black hair rarely touches his forehead. It is mainly because he himself thinks that it looks better, giving him more of a carefree, slightly rebellious look. The front is not very long, and as aforementioned, sticks up, though curves to either side of his head. His sideburns are not very long, but long enough to be noticed, if not, on the verge of becoming "too long". The rest of his hair is not cut very long, about average as I would say and unlike the classic Asian hair quality, Hyun Ki's hair is thick and curly, though it rarely shows with hair his length.
Eye colour:Dark, dark brown. Normally, his eye color can not be distinguished merely from a single glance. Only under the right light does the reddish-brown color come up. His eyes are framed by long lashes, a feature of his mother's. The main expression to be gleaned from them is mischief, or what one could name lightheartedness. There always seems to be a positive aura coming from his eyes, however much guarded they are.
Skin Tone: Pale, but prone to tan easily under the sun. He almost never burns unless the intensity of the sun and heat is really unbearable (equator type weather).
Height & Weight: Hyun Ki stands at a height of 175 centimeters, weighing about 65 kg (or the last time he bothered to check anyways).
Build: Hyun Ki is built for grace and dexterity, adding advantage to his Yong-Chi Musul techniques. He has long arms legs and fingers as well as hidden muscle due to his training. The only hinder in this setup is a minor limp in his left leg, an old injury that has not gone.
Scars & Tattoos: The only scar that Hyun Ki has is one on his left ankle when he busted it trying impudently to execute a half-learned Yong-Chi technique.
Other: He always wears a necklace, a simple silver affair of the yin and yang represented by two dragons, a family heirloom from his father's side of the family. Along with that, another mandatory item (or two) for him are the black fingerless gloves that adorn his palms. He will never take them off as it is a sort of "key" for his power. He also has a mild British and Korean influence on his English. His natural body temperature is also a degree or two lower than the average human's body temprature.
Clothing Style: Hyun Ki prefers to dress casual, usually a loose shirt (buttoned or unbuttoned depending on his mood) and a pair of knee-length shorts (usually plaid). He will also frequently be found with sunglasses, either pushed up to his hairline or concealing his eyes. The only two types of shoes he will ever wear are combat boots or sneakers. The only other option for him is to go barefoot. Any other thing and he'll complain that it hinders him.

Place of Birth: Seoul, South Korea
History: He was due on the 22nd of October, yet he came early to Adelle Oakley. He was the first-born of Hwan Yong, the first born to Suk Chul Yong. Even as he drew in his first, premature breath, he had a strong voice. Both Adelle and Hwan adored their firstborn son. As he grew up, his parents showered him in love and care. They had planned his destiny for him already; the Yong family was known to be a gifted chi manifestion family with chi levels that rocketed above normal. Though Hyun Ki's physical body was somewhat weak due to his premature birth, he had the same chi that resided within the Yong family--he was fit to learn Yong-Chi.
From the start of when he was four, he had been training in various body and mind strengthening exercises, of which the majority included patience--something that little Hyun Ki seemed to be lacking. He was almost never focused or patient, downplaying his excellent mastery of the Yong-Chi Musul. Suk Chul was not happy with this, a mutual feeling shared within the Yong family. They blamed it on Adelle, the foreigner, but could do nothing about it, for he was the child of a first-born. Hyun Ki himself despised the way his uncles and aunts put down his mother, but could do nothing but merely oppose them. He was only a minor compared to them.
When he was five, Adelle gave birth to another child, a girl this time. Hwan gave his wife the liberty of naming their daughter and therefore, she received the name Ariana, an English name. The Yong clan was in no position to oppose as the girl also seemed to carry a gift of chi level, though not as pronounced as Hyun's. She was also to be trained in Yong-Chi, but instead, she was not to learn the offensive technique, but rather the defensive technique, as custom for the females. Hyun Ki was told about his little sister, surprising others with his enthusiastic reaction. On the contrary, his performance never improved, continuing at the lazy pace that he seemed to assume. For another four years this continued until it was time to begin Ariana's training.
At this time, Hyun was already learning the speed techniques, designed to improve one's hit rate and reflexes in battle. This was his downfall, for this level of Yong-Chi required an immense amount of patience and perseverance to learn the proper footwork. He had been training with Suk Chul on the harder techniques (known as Whirlwind of the Dragon) when Ariana and her mentor Hana walked by. Hyun Ki was unaware of them, but Suk Chul had been repeating the footwork over and over, agonizing him with the incredible pace of it. Once more being impudent, he attempted the Whirlwind without consent of his mentor, resulting in a sharp crack and immense pain that shot up his ankle. It destabilized him, making him trip and with the momentum that he had gathered, he was sent careening into a wall with an agonized cry. Little Ariana had rushed over to her brother in alarm, much faster than the slightly disappointed Suk Chul. Hyun Ki was too breathless to take a look at his badly disfigured ankle, though as his four year old sister began to wail, he knew it must have been pretty bad. Suk Chul's face was dissapointed and pained; he knew that Hyun Ki could never practice Yong-Chi again.
It was then that a miracle happened. Ariana who had been sobbing in fear and pain for her brother had dropped a tear onto the swollen injury. A feeling of warmth coursed through him as more tears flowed from her eyes and onto his wound. "Phoenix Tears Chi technique" Suk Chul had said as the swelling went down. Neither child understood what was happening, but due to Ariana's minor lack of chi, the ankle never healed properly and a scar was left. She was the only healer in the Yong mansion, so there was nothing to be done with modern techniques. It was then that Hyun Ki's eyes were open. He spent a further one year getting used to the limp and strengthening his ankle, revising all his previous Yong-Chi techniques to fit his weak ankle and never again had he tried to prematurely practice a Yong-Chi technique.
At the age of thirteen, he was presented with the proper Yong-Chi equipment, the fingerless gloves for instant chi-control (so he had no need to "meditate" to draw on the chi) and the yin-yang of the Yong family, the entwined dragons for every heir of the Yong estate. Although his training should have officially been over, he requested a further two years to learn the more advanced Flame of the Dragon techniques, where one gathers momentum to produce heat, requiring a vast amount of chi and concentration. In the end he only acquired the basics, but has never been able to produce heat of more than 40+ Celcius for a minute.

Secrets: Hyun Ki has mild anaemia and his Yong-Chi speed-based attacks are a little slower than the average Yong-Chi user. He doesn't want anyone to know that he's weaker speedwise.
Goals: To perhaps find the ultimate healer to rid him of his weak ankle and become the strongest chi-user on the planet.
Personality: Hyun Ki is a lighthearted, carefree person. He does not deal very well with serious situations and instead of preferring to be the one arguing and planning, he would rather be a soldier given guidelines that he could follow and bend to his liking. He has a fondness for girls and the personalities of girls can vary with his mood. What would seem the next most outstanding trait about Hyun Ki is that he is impatient and impudent. Once he has gotten an overall picture of what he's supposed to do, he will almost never listen to the finepoint details. Being very confident in his Korean martial arts, he does not like to admit failure.
The only time Hyun is really in a bad mood is if he has not managed to take down an opponent with Yong-Chi. He is a competitive person, albeit lazy. If anyone could fit that oxymoron, it would be Hyun, lazy and competitive. He will rarely do more than his normal morning exercises even if he's struggling to beat an opponent, he will, however, watch that person to see where he can gain the upperhand. A very common sign of his laziness is the mess on the floor of his room, which has been there since day one. He never does anything about it, claiming that it's better that way so he doesn't have to put labels on everything to remember where they are otherwise.

Role Play Sample:
He was slowly gaining consciousness, enough to know that he was not sleeping on his back, but his front. His right cheek was on the cotton bedspread and his left arm was hanging over the side, knuckles brushing the faded carpet through the black material of his fingerless gloves. He knew that his chest was bare because he never slept in a shirt in such heat, but he still had his shorts on. It wasn't like there was anyone around to tell him off; not his mother or Ariana, who he used to share a room with. Thank goodness for that.
What time was it anyways? The curtain was blocking out the majority of the light and even as he opened his eyes, he could see but the vague outlines of various objects, shirts tossed here and there, boxer shorts, board shorts, boots and sneakers and even a pair of sunglasses or two that he hadn't bothered to put back in its original case. It didn't matter either way; no one really came into the room and he himself knew his way around the room blindfolded. It wasn't a figure of speech either.
Talking about people coming into the room, it'd be a smart idea to get up before the slim chance of someone coming into the room to wake him up could actually become a reality. That was definitely not a good thing. Grunting as he rolled onto his back and pulled himself up, he ran a hand through his mess of black hair, stretching lazily as he got off the bed, performing a few exercises, some to do with his muscles, others to do with his breathing and mind. Ever since he was four, morning exercises like these had been honed into his routine by his grandfather and even now on the Gifted Isle he practiced them. After all, a chi-user had to keep in contact with his chi energy to be able to produce a proper attack. There was no way he was going to lose to others because of a petty error like that. He had done it once and he wasn't going to do it again.
