Alexander Nicholas Zaytsev
( The Basics )
( Full Name) Alexander Nicholas Zaytsev
( Nickname ) He always goes by Alex. Sometimes his father and grandfather call him “Sasha.” And certain annoying people call him “Blondie.”
( Age ) Seventeen
( Birthdate ) March 23rd
( Sex ) Male
( Hometown ) Buffalo, New York
( Class ) Senior
( Sexuality ) Straight
( Played By ) Alex Pettyfer
( Their Power)
( Ability ) Alex has the power to turn himself completely invisible. He can also extend his powers to certain objects up to about the size of another person. It’s not the flashiest power, but it definitely comes in handy.
( Type of Power ) Physical
( Weakness ) While Alex is invisible, he still maintains a fully tangible presence. He can still be heard, touched, and smelled, in other words. So if someone bumps into him while he’s invisible, his cover is blown. Luckily, he’s good at keeping quiet.
( Good vs. Evil ) Eh, he's kind of indifferent. He's not a bad guy, though there are certainly people who would love to take advantage of him.
( Personality )
If you want to get to know Alex, chances are you’re going to have to work for it. He’s not the most talkative or open person, never has been. He’s rarely one to ever strike up a conversation with a stranger unless something about him or her really intrigues him. He’s polite enough to those he doesn’t know, but it takes some time to get the ball rolling. Some people notice his aloof and quiet attitude and paint him as snobby, rude, or disinterested in them. Truthfully, he’s just shy and a little socially awkward. He’s a very sweet and courteous boy if one is willing to put in the effort.
He’s a very diligent worker; some would go so far as to call him a perfectionist. If Alex does something, it’ll be done right. He absolutely hates to make mistakes and, though he may not show it on the outside, can let stupid mistakes really get to him sometimes. He won’t stop thinking about what he should have done and will replay the event over and over in his mind.
Alex is a non-confrontational person and tries to avoid unnecessary conflict (or conflict in general) whenever he can. If you try to get in his face or under his skin, he’ll coolly dismiss you and keep walking. Some might call him a coward for supposedly not standing up for himself, but he really doesn’t care one way or the other. If a problem is too big for him to handle no matter how hard he tries, he’ll just go around it and leave it behind.
Despite how serious he may seem, Alex has a very dry sense of humor. He loves subtle, sarcastic comments and jabs that aren’t always picked up. Often times he’s the subject of his own ridicule, but his friends are never one hundred percent safe.

( Little Details )
( Strengths) He’s a damned good shot. Give the kid a gun - any gun - and he’ll blow you away. Shooting was one of his favorite hobbies when he was growing up, and with practice he’s become an excellent sharpshooter. He’s also good at swimming, another fun pastime of his. He doesn’t get the opportunity to exhibit any of these talents very often, though. Mentally, he’s quite good at staying calm under pressure and manages to remain levelheaded for the most part. Trying to rile him up is a waste of time; it takes someone VERY persistent to really get under his skin.
( Weaknesses ) He has a crippling fear of bats, jellyfish, and mathematics of any kind. His fears also extend to the more abstract - the possibilities of failure and rejection keep him from taking risks. As stated before, he’s kind of a hard nut to crack and doesn’t have the most fantastic social skills. Like other young men his age, he’s not the best at expressing his feelings or letting people in on what he really thinks.
( Dark Secrets) He’s seventeen years old, so it’s not like he’s killed anyone or anything like that. His darkest secret is his power itself - at least, when it comes to the rest of the non-gifted world. That, and the fact that one time he used his invisibility to lift a stick of beef jerky from a convenience store. He just wanted to see if he could do it without getting caught. It worked.
( Reputation ) He’s a good, respectful kid, so the teachers and adults definitely approve of him. He’s never once been a troublemaker and is good at staying out of the spotlight. Other than that, people don’t really know much about him thanks to the fact that he’s so reserved. A lot of the students neither have a good opinion nor a bad one when it comes to him, if they even know him at all.
( Family)
( Mother ) Natalie Zaytsev, age forty-five. She worked as a translator for overseas diplomats and met Alex’s father in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She was the first to notice his unique power and it was her idea in the first place that Alex go to a school for people just like him. Alex can’t tell if she wants him to interact with other gifted or if she’s honestly scared of him. Their relationship could be better.
( Father ) Nicholas Zaytsev, age forty-seven. A native of Saint Petersburg, Russia, he recently became a citizen of the United States. Today he works as a chemistry professor at a New York college. Nobody is closer to Alex than his father is - they write letters back and forth almost every week. He is aware of Alex’s powers, but, strangely enough, doesn’t seem surprised as his mother does..
( Siblings ) None
( Any Other) Sergei Zaytsev, age eighty-five, is Alex’s grandfather. He lives in Russia in a tiny mountain in the Ural Mountains. A Red Army veteran of World War II, Sergei has lived with and seen it all. He used to tell Alex stories about his twin brother, Andrei, who was an amazing sharpshooter during the war. Apparently he was able to complete his missions undetected, almost as if he were invisible. He is unaware of Alex’s powers at the moment.

(lol random WWII roleplay post)
Werner drew in a deep, slow breath and let it out in a lengthy sigh as he wondered how to answer Viktorya's question. "No, I was never married," he explained - it had always been one of his biggest regrets, waiting too long to ask her. Truthfully, he had been scared of daring to make such a big change in his life. He had figured he would wait until after the war was over, but that was a poor idea for two reasons. At this dismal rate, the war would probably take years and years. There was also the fact that she said she never wanted to see him again.
"I was going to ask her to marry me. We were childhood friends, practically inseperable," he reminisced. "But...the war got in the way of all that. She didn't approve of me becoming a soldier for reasons of her own." He would never forget that look in her eye, hurt and disgust mixed together, a look that made him feel sick with guilt. She had sobbed, shouted, even smacked him across the face. How could he lower himself to fight for those cruel men? she had asked.
"She left Germany soon after I told her I was leaving. Smart girl," he said with an empty chuckle. Werner reached into the pocket of his pants and unfolded an old picture, staring into the faces of the two people who were so familiar yet seemed so far away. He was about seventeen years old, sitting on the edge of a dock. A pretty young dark-haired girl was at his side, leaning against his shoulder and beaming at the camera. He stared into the glassy eyes of the two teenagers before passing the picture to Viktorya. "That's her. Her name's Rebecca."
