Ladon sat on the edge of a fairly large rock. A rough looking skate board underneath her feet, moving back and forth, back and forth.
She'd done quite a bit of skating today. Nobody had come by either. She had had her hopes up that somebody would come to the park, and she could talk to them. She was bored out of her mind and hardly had any ideas as to what she could be doing.
Her hazed over eyes snapped back to focus. They scanned the terra once more. A sad sigh escaped her mouth as she sat up. She picked up her board, leaning it against the rock, before walking over to a tree.
"Hey there Ty," she chirped, making up a random name for the tree, "Don't mind if I climb you...do you?" but of course, she awaited no response and went ahead. It was a bit of a struggle to reach the first branch, but after that it was a piece of carrot cake!
Finally she sat perched in the crevice of a large branch, one of her legs hanging down. With a large grin on her face she pulled out her gameboy advanced and began playing away at the classical mario game.
LaDon continued pressing buttons. A soft, musical tune chimed from the hand-held game as she completed a level.
Her eyes drifted downwards as she saw someone heading towards the park. He looked rather lost too. He was eating an apple. A wonderfully juicy apple. Her mouth watered just thinking about the luscious taste.
The boy finally came and sat at the bottom of the tree. His facial expression showed that of much concentration, and she wondered what he was busy concentrating on, but lingered no longer on the thought, for she had to continue playing her game.
“Mario!” He suddenly yelled standing up and holding his now almost completely eaten apple in what seemed to be a victory pose.
“Señor Arbol,” she heard him say, as he walked around the tree, searching for something, “Is that you playing a loved classic game?” He asked curiously.
LaDon wanted to laugh, but she had to keep her hiding spot. This could be fun. She continued to play her game, the volume maxed out now.
“Of course I’m playing the game,” she said in a high tone voice. She hoped the thick leaves on the tree were well enough to hide her, “Didn’t you know trees played Mario? It’s the best game EVER!” the ‘tree’ exclaimed.
“I’ll let you play too....if you have another apple.” The tree said, getting down to business now. What a day this was, who knew she was going to roleplay as a tree today, to get an apple! She was certainly glad that this boy had stopped bye. Her mind was ever so easily amused. Either that or she just had a wonderful imagination.
The boy seemed a bit shocked by her speaking. Maybe he really couldn’t see her. She let out a low laugh as he exclaimed, “Jebus Almighty! “He jumped back a bit. “Y-You can talk!” He exclaimed, “This is-this-Well this is awesome!” He said happily, running over to the tree he got as close to the woody structure as he could and examined it thoroughly. Ha-ha, this guy was pretty cool. Did he actually believe the tree talked, or was he just playing along. Either way...she officially loved this guy.
Dropping to his knees, the boy stared up, eyes close to sparkling. It was just like in anime shows, when the background went all bubbly and their abnormally large eyes sparkled and glistened, “You are…amazing! You are my hero!” The boy wrapped his arms around the tree, at least as far as he could, his cheek against the rough surface. “I will never carve another vulgar slur into any of your brethren again! Te lo juro!”
LaDon smiled, “WHAT! YOU HAVE CARVED USELESS SLURS INTO THE BARK OF MY BRETHERN? HOW DARE YOU!” the tree barked at him. ((haha pun))
The boy bit his lip and shuffled back from the tree, still on his knees. “I don’t have any more apples,” he said feebly. “But you can have the rest of this one,” he said holding out the half eaten shiny red apple.
The great tree sighed heavily, “I suppose that will do,” LaDon smiled, “You’re forgiven!” she said jumping out of the tree, landing a foot away from the teen. With a toothy smile she walked over to the boy and took a bite out of the apple he held.
“Hmm, not bad.” She said taking the apple from his hand and holding out the game for him to play. Sure it was only half an apple, but she was starved and the apple was mighty tasty.
She sat down, leaning her back against the tree trunk; she ate away at the apple. She held back a smile as she watched for his reaction.
The apple boy’s face portrayed both a shocked and confused expression. He seemed to be thinking quite hard about something.
“Vacas volando!” He finally exclaimed pointing a finger her,“You’re a pixie!” He was just bursting with joy. His excitement was like an overboiling pot, “You can’t be a pixie, you’re too big to be one,” he said matter-of-factly. “You must be a tree spirit!” He concluded, “There’s a tree Spirit eating my apple!” He cried happily, “And the tree Spirit has given me her gameboy!” It was a good thing that nobody was around, because this kid was yelling something awful. Of course, LaDon didn’t mind, she did that sort of thing all the time. She was getting a kick out of this guy though. Did he have a tear in his eye there?
LaDon stood there silently, waiting for the boy’s logic to kick. Was he really that dense? Did he actually believe in fairy tale creatures? He observed LaDon a bit longer, before he threw his arms around her, embracing her tightly. “Do not worry fair Spirit! I will make sure that no one hurts you in this new world you’ve stepped…well jumped into. No se preocupe. Camillo is on the job! And I have plenty of apples at home too if you want more! Mi mami bought a bag of them just the other day. And grapes too. I love grapes. Especially the green ones. But they need to be seedless. The ones with seeds are just stupid. Do you like grapes?” He asked titling his head to the side slightly. All she could do was smile and shake her head, for when he mouth opened to speak he was blabbering away yet again. Instead she just giggled quietly. “Do you have a name? Or do I just call you Tree Spirit? How did you get your hair like that? I dyed mine,” he said pointing to his purple and bright orange bangs,“Just recently actually. Do you live in that tree? Or do you wander, protecting all the trees around here? And I really am sorry about carving things into trees. But who hasn’t done that at least once in their lives. Oh God!” He yelled, jumping back and clinging to her arms. He gave a short kick, that was more like a twitch towards the small bird,. “Get away you evil eye pecking monstrosity!” He said, now, waving a stick at the bird from behind her.
LaDon shook her head, smiling still, “The bird won’t hurt you dear,” she said grabbing his shoulders, so they were arms length apart, that and so he would listen and hopefully not be distracted.
“My names LaDon Uniche,” she told him, “I do like grapes actually...the green ones...the red ones AND the purple ones. Hahaha, they’re all good. Kiwi is good too...and cheese.” She smiled gleefully, imaging herself eating the grand fruits and dairy product. “I dyed my hair as well. Just the pink stuff though, I naturally have bleach blonde hair.” she laughed, lowering her arms to the side and looking around her, “I really like your purple and orange hair! It’s pretty sweet! Oh and I’m not a tre- HEY!” her focus had been lost when she saw something furry out of the corner of her eye, “CHIPMUNK!” she exclaimed, running off to chase the poor, defenseless creature.
