"Oh, Olivia. A sweet girl, though she's been through a lot." That was understatement. Revealing that I was her brother on her first week here and our parents were murdered? Wow. Derek saw he quickly shift back and forth, and chuckled, "Don't worry, I can't fully control my powers either."

"I'm sure most here have been through quite a bit. My family is all gifteds, though I still don't know much. I'm the only shifter." She explained, sitting up to look around. "Are we allowed into the city?"

Still laying back, he replied, "Not on weekdays. Well, we are allowed on Fridays and weekends." Derek shrugged. He wasn't too sure about using the secret passage today, especially since security was tightened up until the Headmistress had finished investigating the Forbidden Room incident. Taking a chance, Derek said, "But that doesn't stop people in the know from going..."

"Yeah, out to the city. It bypasses all the security Oceanside has. Sometimes I wonder if it's to keep us in or keep people out." Derek shrugged.

Derek shook his head. "Nope. You just need to be able to find it and figure out how to open them. Finding is the easy part, the opening part takes a bit of work."

Should I say? The passages were a closely guarded secret, and Lyra would kill him if he started passing it around. "They're pretty easy to spot, a piece of the wall that looks like they can move, or a few hinges for no reason. Only one I know how to get into is the one that connects the dorm hallways. Allows you to sneak into other halls past curfew."

Derek smiled. He'd like that. "Well, Lyra is in the same hall you're in Hercules. Toshie and Olivia are in Einstein, and Vergil is in Houdini with me. Perhaps I can give you a call if something's going on? Of course..." Derek whipped out his phone and said with a wink, "I'll need your number."

Tahlah laughed a little. She handed Derek her Nokia phone. "Put your number in, and I'll put in mine." She smiled, winking back.

Derek smiled at her laugh, glad she wasn't creeped out. It's failed in the past before... Quickly typing in his number and adding himself as another contact, he handed her back his phone. "There you go then.", he said with a chuckle.

Derek sat up, and shrugged. "I don't watch much TV, though I've seen Big Bang Theory a few times. Nice shirt by the way. Though I will admit I have an addiction for Chuck."
