"Hey Bobbie- it's Aaron," Aaron walked on the grassy area away from the cobble stone circular area where the fountain was at. Bobbie greeted him and started to go off about something that happened last night with a customer. "No uh, that's not what I called about-" Aaron interrupted him.
"Really? What? The schedule for this week? You don't work today, brah." "No, no, I know I don't work today, I know Melrose-" "Aaah, Melrose huh? She's a cutie. Do you like her?" "No Bobbi-" "You think she's hot, huh? She has nice legs," Bobbie snickered. "No Bobbie! Anyways, she was supposed to come in and I uh, wondered if I could help train her-" "Dude, she's not working today. Some family emergency or sumtin." Aaron pulled the phone away and stared at if as if it had the answer to what happened. "Really?" Aaron's voice and happiness shot down. Poor Melrose... did she go back to New York? Without saying goodbye? Gah. Of course Mel wouldn't say goodbye, it's an emergency! She wouldn't have the time to say goodbye to some coworker at Pizza Planet!
Aaron hung up and put his phone in his pocket. He walked in between the bushes, now in the fountain area. But to his surprise, happiness, and sanity about Melrose's location, a smile appeared on his face. "Melrose!" Aaron's voice was rushed, he walked to her side, spotting the bandages and frowned. How was he supposed to greet her? "Are... you doing better?" Aaron asked Melrose, unsure of what to say. He didn't want to sound heartless or stupid in front of her. Of course she was doing bad, she couldn't get over it in a few days. "I was worried, about you," Aaron admitted with a sheepish smile. Gah, how could he smile at a time like this!?

Aaron? Melrose could hear his voice echoing through her head. Was she really daydreaming about him? Well whatever it takes to be distracted from the matter at hand, I guess. But wait. There he was again. No, it really was him! By the bushes. Melrose paused to stare at him for a split second, taking it all in. What fantastic timing...
"Aaron! I-" Wait he was worried? How did he know? Did Tobias tell him, or Lyra? Maybe Ethan? Melrose hadn't told anyone else really accept the creep, Bobbie, back at Pizza Planet. Oh heck, did it really matter? Aaron was here. And he was worried about her.
"How did you know?" She asked, straightening her sitting posture on the edge of the fountain. Noticing her wet bandages, which were almost completely red now, Melrose quickly pulled them to her chest, hoping he hadn't noticed. It would look like she had started cutting herself or something. Which was entirely not the case. Melrose was no way like that.

"Well, I don't know what happened," Aaron said to Melrose. If it was one thing that Bobbie did that made up for his inappropriate comments was that he kept personal business of others to himself when he was told something, "but he said there was a family emergency." Aaron saw Melrose bring pull her hands to her chest. Aaron reached over, gently taking her wrist and pulled it towards him. He stared at the red bandages, just praying that it was the color of the bandage. But he knew he was wrong. "Mel... what happened?" he asked, his eyes gazing up at her. Was she cutting herself? Or purposefully hurting herself? "You should never hurt yourself," Aaron lectured, but if someone hurt her he would fight that person in a second, even if it wasn't his forte or favorite thing to do.

Having Aaron grab her wrist, Melrose bit her lower lip and stared down at the ground. It kind of scared her that Aaron was touching her. "I know. I got angry." She looked back up at him, staring him dead on in the eyes, "I got some bad news last night and I punched the closest thing that was near me." It just so happened to be the mirror on her dorm door, "It was just one punch, but then I got sort of carried away. I started punching as much and as fast as I could." Remembering it now, Melrose realized how much of a stupid idea it was. "I ended up shattering my dorm mirror as well put a nice dent in the door." She looked at the knuckle in Aaron's hand, hoping any blood wouldn't rub off on him. "I torn up my knuckles. I'm not sure if I got all the glass out."
She let him hold on to her wrist, feeling safe around him and somewhat reliefed she had finally told someone about what happened. Lyra didn't come home last night until real late and then she left real early. And Melrose had not seen anyone she knew while she moped about on the campus all day. It was nice to let it out. Especially to Aaron, of all people.

Aaron sighed, breathing out through his nose. He wasn't too sure what to say. He didn't want to say anything wrong to upset Melrose. "We all get angry," Aaron said, his eyes meeting Melrose. She's so pretty, even when sad, is that wrong to think? He stood up, still touching Melrose's wrist to help her up. He didn't want to use her hands to help her up. Aaron didn't want to cause more pain. "If you are unsure about the glass we should stop by the infirmary," Aaron said to Melrose, "I don't want you catching a disease or getting sick from the dirty shattered glass."
Aaron was unsure if that was possible, but he still didn't want glass stuck in Melrose. Nobody should have that. Aaron was thankful that Melrose was cooperating rather than holding back.

"I made an appointment with the nurse already." Melrose gave a weak smile, still letting Aaron hold her wrist. She almost had forgotten he was in the first place. "The infirmary is up to their necks in work. I suppose this is the season to get hurt, huh?" She tried to joke and make the overall situation less heavy.
"But yeah, I'm going later tonight for a check up. Lyra hasn't noticed the mirror or the dent yet. In fact you are the first person I've really got to talk to to. Well I mean, I had to tell Bobbie, but he will never count in my book. The guy stares at my legs." Another attempt at trying to light the mood.
"But thanks for your concern. You really are sweet."

"Yeah, he's weird... like that," Aaron's eyes darted from Melrose, feeling guilty because he stared at her legs too. But he would never admit that to her, Mel would probably hate him forever if she caught him staring at her nice long legs. She was the daddy long legs of spiders- wait, what a terrible compliment. Luckily Aaron didn't say that or think of it for long.
"Yeah, no problem," Aaron smiled at Mel's compliment. He wouldn't let her "you really are sweet" compliment get to his head. He wasn't the one for an ego. Besides, Mel probably told guys they were sweet all the time. He could imagine Melrose getting pampered by guys and she wouldn't have to lift a finger. Mel would just say they are sweet and they would do her dishes for free. No, Mel would never do that. She's too sweet of a girl. " Lighten the mood, lighten the mood. He wouldn't ask what happened. "Well, Melrose," Aaron let go of her wrist, "is there anything you would like to do? Go out ? My treat. Let me cheer you up." Maybe she would want a kiss. Or massage. Yeeeeah.

Melrose blushed. Aaron was killing her. He really was one of the nicest guys she has ever met, I mean, asking to take her out to cheer her up? Spot on, dude. Spot on. He was such an amazing friend, and yet Melrose had only known him for a couple of days. It's odd how things turn out that way. But there was something about Aaron, she just couldn't spit it out to save her life. It was as if Melrose didn't need to spend a long time with him to warm up. He just was. If that made absolutely any sense. Being around Aaron was surreal, things were just simpler. Superman, I'm telling you.
"If you want to. Is there any place you'd like to hang out at?" She grinned up at him, trying not to make it just all about her, or pull Aaron down with her misery. Melrose had once learned that not only do guys hate it when that happens, but basically everyone.

"My favorite way of cheering up is getting ice cream," Aaron said to Mel. It was true, ice cream cheered everyone up. There was something magical about ice cream. And Mel was special. He would normally take someone to Fro-ggies and get them frozen yogurt, but no. Mel deserved better. "How about you and I go to Rubie's and I'll buy you an ice cream sundae." Oh yes, Aaron. Mel definitely meant something if you are going to buy her ice cream.
Unfortunately Aaron was stuck with the nice curse. It always put him in the friend zone. Always. He never understood why girls liked the bad-boy type, maybe something for the thrill. How come no girls could like a nice guy? Melrose was nice, guys must like her- but that's different. What was important was that Aaron was spending time with Melrose, she was smiling and appeared to enjoy herself which was what mattered at the moment.

Ice cream. By far the best answer anyone could give. Melrose remembered always getting ice cream in New York with Miles. She'd get plain, boring vanilla and he'd mix every flavor imaginable like a total goof. He would usually get incredibly sick afterwards, and one time Melrose had to practically carry him home. It was hilarious at the time between the two of them and frankly it will always be. Funny though, how something happens to Miles and then the way to cheer Melrose up would be doing something relating right back to her cousin, but it was like closure almost.
Oh Aaron's good. Real good.
"I absolutely love ice cream. Please, we have to go now!" Melrose replied ecstatically, grabbing Aaron's hand.
She hadn't any intention of it meaning anything at first. It was kind of like a "Hey, let's go!" kind of gesture. However feeling his hand in hers gave Melrose chills. The adrenaline started pumping through her body like mad. Whoa there, Superman.

Rhys had wandered out to the fountain earlier tonight to think and take in the night air. After a while, he remembered his little skirmish with Toshie the night before and figured to invite her to the fountain with him to maybe make things up. He'd gotten her number, as well as several other students', off the bulletin boards in the residence halls.
Putting his phone back in his pocket, smiling to himself at her snarky response, and waited, crossing his arms as he leaned against the fountain

It was cold. Toshie dug her hands into her oversized jacket and walked over to see a lone boy there. Making her way over, she figured it would be Rhys, who else would be out this late? She bit her lower lip unsure if this was a good idea or not. Normally she's a nice person, but she was still pretty miffed that he had provoked that side of her.
Once she was a few feet away, but within earshot, she cleared her throat to announce her arrival. Toshie stood there, hands in her pocket, waiting for what Rhys had to say.

Rhys turned to see Toshie when she cleared her throat, standing just within earshot of him.
"Don't worry," he said, "I don't bite... well, not tonight, at least," he half-joked. Considering last night, though, maybe I should lay off on the jokes for a bit, he thought. "How're you? I hope you're still not too drained from last night."

She adjusted her glasses so that the light wouldn't glare off them. "I wohk ahp today. So I guess I ahm fien." Toshie replied not caring whether or not her fobbyness was showing. It was late and they had class the next day. "So what did you want to say?"

"Well," Rhy started, "we kinda got off on the wrong foot, didn't we? So I guess I want to make things a little better," he sincerely told her. "And besides," he added, "we do have almost every class together." He stepped forward a little, no longer leaning on the fountain, and turned to her.
"I'll be your friend if you be mine?"
