Lyra walked onto the track field, her hands shielding her eyes, despite the clouds covering the sun. The switch from indoors to out was never an easy switch. She put her water bottle on a bleacher and re-tied her shoes so the laces wouldn't untie as she ran.
Lyra closed her eyes and her hair put on extra length. With her main hair-length she couldn't tie her hair up and it was extremely annoying with hair bouncing around your face when running. She tied her hair up in a pony tail and stretched out her arms before taking her jog.
Lyra jogged around the field, thinking about round three of her fight- whenever that would be and her spar with Tobias today which hopefully would happen sooner than later. She started to pick up her pace. Oh how she hated running but she felt so good afterwards.

In his wandering, Aaron walked to the track field. He assumed it would be empty since there were no recreational sport activities going on, or maybe a kid with super speed was practicing rounds. Aaron had no purpose on the field but he saw Lyra jogging around the track. He walked closer to the field and caught up with Lyra, keeping up his pace, "hey, Lyra," he greeted.

Lyra slowed down when Aaron appeared. Running while talking never made sense to her; probably because she didn't like the way her voice sounded with running. It sounded rushed and uneven, but nobody's voice was perfect by hanging out. "Hey Aaron," Lyra greeted back. "What brings you out here?" she wondered. He didn't look dressed to run.

"I was out for a walk," Aaron replied to Lyra. He didn't even know why he was on the field. The track field wasn't too far from the dorms. It was on the same side as the dining hall but he didn't want to eat because he was bored. "Do you always run during this time?" Aaron asked.

Lyra shook her head and laughed lightly when Aaron asked if she ran every day. She wish she had time to run everyday- not the time, but the will power, especially since she needed the fitness. "No, I don't," she replied. "This is my first time running for the year," she said.

Nefertari came out to the track after changing into shorts and a t-shirt, she began running around the track and pushed herself, she needed to be faster, even though she was able to manipulate time, she needed a plan b in case she wasn't able to react fast enough. She continued to run and do other exercises. After running she headed into the gym and did some strength training, just in case her opponent was from the physical division.

Lyra walked onto the field, the stadium lights lit, providing tall enough shadows. She and Tobias agreed to work on his shadow control. Luckily they were still surrounded by buildings. It was chilly and nippy so Lyra wore a track suit to work out with while she spared Toby. Lyra jogged around the field, well... maybe for about one minute before cutting across to stand on the grassy area.

Tobias walked onto the field wearing a navy blue hoodie and black jeans. He saw Lyra and called out to her. "Hey Lyra! Are you ready?"

"TK!" Lyra exclaimed at Tobias and waved to him before running up to him, her arms extending outwards as she wrapped her arms around his neck and jumped on him. "Hai!" she said, nodding as she looked up at him and giggled.

"Whoa!" Tobias cried as Lyra jumped on him. "Hello there," he said smiling at her. "Are we going to spar or have a hug war?"

Lyra stepped away from Tobias and giggled, covering her mouth with her hands. "You'd win a hug war for sure, you're grip is stronger than mine," Lyra said, taking a step back. "Let's get to sparring!" she put her hands on her hips. "My shadow or yours?"

Tobias tapped his chin with his right index finger. "Maybe I should try mine?" he suggested. He looked at Lyra for some kind of confirmation that it was a good idea.

Lyra looked around, trying to think if his shadow was a good idea. If he was going to use his shadow, Lyra had to be extra careful. "You need to practice using it," Lyra said to Tobias, her hands now behind her head. "Try yours."

Tobias nodded to Lyra. He gulped, a bit nervous now that it had been decided that he would use his own shadow. He lifted up the bottom of his hoodie slightly so that he could reach into the right pocket of his jeans. Once he found what he was looking for, he retracted his hand. A small brown wallet-like pouch was now clutched in his hand.
Tobias opened the flap of the pouch with his left hand and then slowly removed a small glass vial. The inside of the pouch was lined with soft, fur padding to protect the vial. Inside the vial, a black swirling substance could be seen glistening in the bright lights. For a second it would look like smoke, then it appeared to be a liquid.
Carefully, Tobias opened the clasp on the vial and began to tilt it. Once the opening was at an angle to the ground, the black substance slid out easily. It floated towards the ground like a feather, all the while growing in size. Upon its arrival on earth, the substance had grown to the size of a medium-sized throw pillow.
Tobias cautioned Lyra to take a few steps back as he kept his eyes focused on his shadow. It had been a few weeks since he'd last let it out and he knew the shadow wouldn't be happy about its imprisonment.
Just as Tobias had anticipated, the shadow began transforming. Two hideous, elongated arms sprouted from the puddle of ooze. In place of hands, razor sharp claws grasped at the grass, tearing gashes on the field. Following the arms, a shadowy ribcage and spine formed along with a nightmarish head. The shadow's head resembled a jackal with twisted horns and a huge gaping jaw. Lidless eyes glinted in the light while the rest of the body reflected no light. Finally, huge hind legs formed with wolf-like paws for back feet. The shadow creature swung its head towards Tobias before pushing itself up to stand on its back two feet. The creature was easily two feet taller than Tobias.
Tobias exhaled slowly as his own shadow became a monster. He waited until it turned its eyes towards him and he felt its insatiable hunger and cunning mind before he tried to exert control over it. Tobias clenched his jaw and raised both hands towards his shadow. The shadow tilted its head as Tobias began to infuse it with his own ideas and personality.
The shadow let out a silent howl towards the sky before violently morphing into something much smaller. The ferocious limbs shrunk and the head whipped from side to side. After a few seconds, a shadow version of Tobias stood on the field where moments before a monster had been resting.
"That wasn't too bad, was it?" Tobias asked Lyra, smiling. He was relaxed now. His shadow was under control.

Lyra stepped back when Tobias instructed him to do so. It was a while since she saw his shadow; she was scared to see what would happen. Tobias would have it under control though. He was fast enough. Lyra swallowed hard when she saw the monster emerge. She clenched her fists and continued to walk backwards, praying to any god for a successful summon.
She sighed in relief when the shadow was normal. Lyra smiled at the shadow and walked closer to Tobias, "you did it, TK," she said and laced her fingers with his, holding their arms up so she could see his shadow move. As normal as it was for someone to have a shadow, Tobias looked different. It wasn't normal for him. "It looks good," Lyra complimented, letting go of Tobias' hand.
"So what's the plan?" Lyra asked, "should we walk around the track so your shadow can get used to you know, being your shadow?"
