Samantha floated on her back, and went with the current. She looked up at the dark sky, and saw the moon blazing white.

Aaron turned around to make sure Tari was still there. The other girl from school was still floating around. He wondered why she wasn't talking but maybe she liked being alone. Aaron started to walk towards Tari, his motions creating small waves from the push of his body. He sat down near Tari and smiled sheepishly at her. "So why did you leave your friends like that at the coffee shop?" he wondered.

She set her hand down to make sure the currents wouldn't move her, manipulating it subtly. No one would be able to notice. She smiled back at Aaron and laughed lightly,"They were more acquaintances, I saw them while I was on the beach reading and we headed to get some coffee. Their conversation...wasn't of particular interest to me and you seemed nice so I walked up to you and said hello ", she replied, remembering how dull the conversation with those girls had been. SoCal girls, she mentally shook her head.

Aaron nodded, "ah, I see." He turned away from Tari and smiled to himself. For the second day in a row, he was approached. Maybe this new year wasn't so bad. Maybe this year he would have himself more social rather than looking alone to get attention. "Well thank you for saying hello."

"Thanks for not ignoring me", she replied laughing lightly,"That would have been a mondo bummer, not to mention kill my ego", she laughed. She was glad to have found a new friend, this year would hopefully be even better than the previous one.

"Kill your ego, huh? I guess that's good you admit to having one," Aaron said as he looked out further into the ocean. He stood up and turned around to get his stuff. "It's getting late. We should head back," he said before walking to get his stuff. The stand stuck to his feet. Walking home would be uncomfortable.

She shrugged,"Doesn't everyone?", she replied. She nodded and wrapped her towel around herself, drying herself off, then putting on her cover up. She put on her sandals then looked at Aaron feeling bad for him,"I'd carry you but I think that might kill your ego", she joked, picking up her bag.

"What?" Aaron gave Tari a weird look. He didn't know what she meant. He just knew she liked to ramble on about egos. He threw his shirt back on which stuck to his body and walked to the steps to the pier's bridge which would eventually lead the way back to the school.

Nefertari sighed when he gave a weird look, maybe this year would be worse after all,"Nevermind", she replied, walking back to the school.

Samantha stopped floating, and stood up. "I guess, I should leave now.", she said to herself. She walked onto the sand, and grabbed her towel. Then she walked back towards the school.

Cora walked along he beach, her feet being stabbed by jagged shells that were scattered amongst the fine sand. She scooped up some sand, letting it slip in between the slits in her fingers. She used to do the same when she traveled to nearby Rhode Island to visit her cousins. They would go to Horseneck Beach and dodge the waves and get coated in seaweed. Cora shook her head and stood, brushing sand from he kneecaps and lower legs. She breathed in the air, smiling deeply. She could relax here.

Carson stepped onto the beach. Pulling off her flip-flops, she wiggled her toes, letting the powdery sand slip between them. She smiled. She layed out her towel, claiming her spot, and headed straight for the water. The waves were a decent size, but she'd pictured them to be bigger. If I really wanted big waves, I should've gone to Hawaii... She thought, chuckling to herself out loud. The salty water was cool and refreshing, and she just floated there, taking in the sights and sounds of the beach.

Cora ran across the beach to where she would put her towel. She laughed at the sand's softness. She could picture herself with her cousins already. Cora walked to the water's edge, letting it lick her feet before she charged the water, feeling the sharp rocks jabbing her feet in random places. "Ow," she winced in pain before hitting a smooth spot. She stood, letting waves hit her, waiting for one to topple her over.

Cora was thoroughly enjoying herself when she saw a familiar face. It was Carson, who was way out, blissfully hopping waves and stumbling. She swam up to the girl. "Having fun?" she asked, beaming.

When Carson didn't reply, Cora turned and walked back to shore. She gathered her things and left the beach.
