( Type of Power ) Manipulation
( Weakness ) Inability of control. Since it's directly tied to one's emotions it is hard for Derek to summon up the correct emotion in normal circumstances. ( History/Personality )
Derek was 14 when his power manifested. Upon the constant beatings from his uncle who he was forced to stay with after his parents died in a laboratory accident, Derek found himself enraged. Extremely emotionally unstable he grabbed a vase and threw it at his uncle. However instead of a simple flying object instead was enveloped by a white pulsating ball of energy the size of a basketball, and quickly did away with his uncle's life. No trace of his uncle remained. In panic Derek ran away, and fled the house, developing another persona and living homeless for the next two years. During this time Derek tried to control his power. Though incredibly powerful, his efforts rested in vain with only small white sparks would appear around his hands. In lieu of his state he survived, through social manipulation, although he kept a solid code of morals. Derek, now 16, finds himself a home, a place to train himself, at Oceanside. Derek fiercely abides by his code, but will not expect it of others. He is socially approachable, though is easily annoyed. Opinionated and passionate he sometimes uses his own will against all odds.

It was raining again. Allison started to doze off in the car again. Stretching her body, she tried to find a more comfortable position to sleep. She settled with snuggling into her own shoulder and the side of the car. Exhausted from a weekend camping, Allison breathed a sigh of relief. Soon she'd be back in her bed, in her room, with pillows.
Nice, soft pillows.
The patter of the rain coupled with the subtle swaying of the car was nudging her to sleep. Her father took a glance at the rear view mirror, and smiled, "Sleep Ally, we still have a way to go." She loved moments like these, with her parents; they always made her feel calm and safe. Just as she was about to pass over into sleep, she felt the car stop.
Concerned, Allison shifted her head up to see out the front window. Just a stop sign. She chastised herself for being so paranoid, and settled back down. Inevitably, the car started moving again.
Then there was noise. Allison felt disoriented, almost as if she was spinning. Something seemed pinned against the door away from her, pushing their car as far as it could. Screeching metal filled her ears, as her head crashed against the window pane. Her father was yelling something, but the noise just filtered it out. And in a second it was over.
She could hear the rain, and her eyes felt too heavy to open. She felt pain, mostly in the back of her head. Mustering all the strength she had, Allison opened her eyes, and could only take in the scene for a second. Her body had slipped up through the seatbelt, because their car was overturned. Her mother was out cold on the dashboard, bleeding from her head. Her dad was by her side, trying to get her out of her restraints. She stared at him, not really believing that any of this was happening. She looked at herself, and other than the sharp pain in her head, she looked fine. Tears started to form in her eyes, when her father turned her face towards his.
“Take my wallet, there’s money and a debit card with your name on it. The pin is underneath my license. Allison, you need to run. Don’t think about us and don’t worry about me or your mother. We’re going to be fine, but you need to run.” Allison found herself being pulled out of the car, and felt shove toward the trees. “Run! And... know that I love you.”
Allison stared for a moment, and then took off into the forest. She could hear her father yelling for her to run, and it grew fainter against the sound of the rain. She had no idea why she was running, or why her dad was making her do it. But she did it. She pushed deeper into the forest, not looking back. The cold rain started to soak her clothes, and the crash had already strained her muscles. Then she heard gunshots. She stopped and turned around.
Nobody was there.
She could feel her tears, but she bit her lip and continued to run away.
