Jason wandered about the grounds, his mind wandering even more. In the few short years that Jason Hattley had spent at Oceanside, he had found one of his favorite places to be here, where he stood. It was at the edge of the grounds that Jason was leaning against a wooden fence at the top of a hill that looked out over the Ocean. He made sure to resist the urge to jump the fence and run off into the water, knowing that the school surely had more protection than a rickety old fence.
As he stood there, with his eyes slightly glazed over in a trance that the waves were causing, Jason found his mind going back to when he was sixteen, or at least the age that he had chosen for himself two years ago. He often replayed the earliest memory that he had over and over in his head. Occasionally he would suddenly have a memory from before then, but after a bit of thought it turned out to just be a scene from a movie or a story. He often found himself jealous of the other students who talked about how much they hated their parents. They, at least, had parents to complain about. What was Jason going to do? Complain about his social worker at the Agency?
Jason scoffed out loud and shook his head. He would never tell anyone about his past, or lack thereof. Never.

Artemis had needed to get some fresh air. She had thought about going into town or the cafeteria but..None of them had caught her interest going alone. And no one was really around for her to bring with her. Penny was off somewhere and She hadnt spoke to Peter in a bit. Missy looked down as she fiddled with her hand as she made her way towards the grounds. She sighed looking at her bare finger.Artemis, not paying attention almost tripped on the uneven ground where she cought herself on a tree. Looking up she noticed a small path that lead up the grounds towards a hill. She smelled salt strong. Like it was coming from the waves. Shaking her hair out she gripped her bare hand closing her eyes. Her ring used to be everything to her. It made her think it helped her powers when really..It was the only things she had left from her real parents. And someone had taken it from her things while she was in a coma.
Things flashed in her head. Back to the coma. Penny laying there. Nick Dead. Black flashed in her mind as she held back a sob. It still bothered her. But she had moved on from that. And now it was a new time. Looking up she stopped herself. Hearing a scoff her hands tightened into fists just in case. Taking a few more steps she saw a boy standing there. "Oh...Sorry I didnt know anyone was up here" She spoke to him.

He continued to look below at the beach. He saw a family of five having a picnic off to the right, and a group of teenagers playing beach volleyball to the left. He wondered if they were from the regular Oceanside High School. He often thought that it was a bit foolish to have a school such as this so close to the Prosies- though he would be much less inclined to go to school if it was in the middle of nowhere.
Jason turned his head sharply when he heard a voice to see an attractive blonde girl about his age. "That's alright," he said to her. Had he noticed a trace of an english accent in her voice? He couldn't be certain. "There's plenty of room for more than one. I don't bite...hard," he added with a small laugh.

Artemis came closer as she took hold of the short gate that kept them 'inclosed' She leaned out looking back over to the boy with a small evil smile. "Well great, dont mind if I stick around" She said looking down to the beach as her hair fell in her face. "I think I have seen you around every now and then. Im Artemis. People call me Missy" She said turning to him holding out her now heated hand.
Her eyes came up to his as she locked onto his gaze. It seemed as if he was hiding something. But then again. We all were. He was attractive and tall. She wondered what he was capable of. Hearing his last statement she tuned away Biting her lip hiding a small blush.

"Artemis," he repeated her name. It had a nice ring to it. Jason had an affinity towards calling people by their full names. It was usually a respect thing, but with this girl, the name 'Missy' seemed way too docile... unassertive."It's nice to meet you, Artemis," he said, holding out his own hand to hers and taking it graciously. "My name is Jason, and yes, I recognize you as well. Do you happen to be in Houdini?" he asked her, referring to their dorm halls. He could have sworn that he'd seen her in the common room, or perhaps in the hallway.
As he spoke to her, making small talk, he looked her over- her face, mostly. She seemed very strong, but somehow weak at the same time. Perhaps not weak, but worn- like she had been through more than a teenager should go through (perhaps maybe more than an adult should). That was fairly common around here, though. There were countless students who had accidentally blown up their home or injured a friend while they were not in control of their powers. He wondered what it was that this girl, Artemis, had gone through.
She may have well been wondering the same thing about him, but there was no way that Jason would ever go up to someone -especially a pretty girl- and say, 'Hi, I'm Jason, but that might not be my real name because I can't remember anything from before I was sixteen, who are you?' Yeah, that would never happen. And if this girl was anything like him, she wouldn't be all too keen to share her life story after thirty seconds of knowing one another's names.

Artemis took his hand as she gave him a small smirk as she bowed her head to him. "Jason" She repeated his name so she would remember it. Lately she had a small issue remember things. Artemis let her hand slowly drop to her side as she leaned against the fence looking down. She inhaled as she locked her gaze onto the waves as the current changed. The tide came up as the waves grew and crashed over a family that was playing by the shore. She stifled a laugh as she turned her attention back to Jason. He was taller then her. Not by much but still. And he seemed...different in a way.
She let her mind wander as they spoke a little enjoying the weather. Her eyes looked over him as she gazed at his face. She could only wonder about his story. She knew a few f the students here didnt have such a great life before the school. Including her. But something didnt flow right with this Jason boy.Maybe in time she would learn to know his story. Only time could tell. Quickly looking away she inhaled. She had just met him. So starring at him for a long perid of time and scarring him off would not be smart. It had been a while since she hung out with people.
A small shiver went down her spine as she stepped back away form the fence still giggling at the wet family who was grabbing there chiildren and backing away from the water. "Houdini Hall, you got that Right. I knew I have seen you before" Even if he wasnt in the same hall, the one accident that happened in Herc hall, Every one knew her. She smiled. "Yeah im uh Im roomed with Penelope and Tari. If you happen to know them" She shrugged. "So uh I hate to ask this..but what can you do?"

Jason observed Artemis. She seemed very uncomfortable- but by what, Jason couldn't tell. Was it him? It was definitely a possibility. Or was she just uncomfortable in general? He wondered, if that was true, if it had anything to do with whatever may have happened in the past that made her seem tired to him. He saw her stifle a laugh as the family was drenched in cold ocean water, and wondered what it was that she found funny about the situation. Millions of people were amused by other's pain- physical humor has been a part of entertainment for thousands of years, after all- but was there something different about the light in the girl's eyes after she saw them try to save their belonging's from the water, as the smallest child cried because their sandcastle had been ruined?
"Yeah, I know those two," Jason said, "Not well, but I know who they are. Didn't you fight Nefertari last summer? Just after Penelope beat that other girl, right?"he asked her, recalling the events that had taken place in the arena. He was not at all surprised when Artemis asked him what his power was- that was what most everyone asked someone when they first met. Jason supposed that knowing what someone's power was could say a lot about them, as it did with him. "Illusion's my main thing," he said to her. "I may or may not have used it for a few pranks over the past years," he told Artemis, recalling one that he was particularly fond of where he spilt marbles across the first floor of all three halls and illusioned them so that they were invisible. He still had videos of that somewhere on his computer....

Artemis inhaled as she turned to look at him. He was nice company. Someone she could see herself hanging out with more then once. She looked over to him as she noticed the look on his face when the family got wet by the waves. He didnt seem like it amused him. She quickly looked away. Maybe he was a Hero...And..maybe there friendship wouldnt last vey long as she thought. For her ideas and his may be very well different. She sighed looking back up to him.
"Yeah there uh there my Roommates and Penny is like My Best friend. We have bee through...A lot together" She said with a small sigh. When he spoke of his powers she smiled. "Wow really? Illision...that seems kinda cool" She let out a small giggle. "You? Pranks? I didnt take you for a prankster" She said udging him hoping he wouldnt like freak out. "You said its your main thing? you can do something else?"

Jason felt a bit awkward when Artemis looked at him. It felt like she was judging him- or at least trying to- which was what he was doing with her. He often found that people at Oceanside never really said what they meant. In fact, most people didn't say anything that was truly on their minds. Jason couldn't count the number of times when someone had been asking him about the weather when it was clear they wanted to know something else.
He wondered what Artemis was wondering. He could, of course, go against the stereotype he had just thought of, but he wouldn't. At least not yet. Instead he just listened as Artemis spoke awkwardly about Penelope and Nefertari. He felt a bit... hurt that Artemis couldn't see him doing pranks. It was, after all, one of the things that he prided himself most of. He was surprised when she nudged him, but it wasn't a bad thing. "Yes, I prank," He said, smiling a bit. "Yeah, illusion's my main thing. I can also make things bigger on the inside than they are on the outside. It's not that great," he explained, "I usually just use it on my book bag and if I need extra room in a drawer, or the trunk of a car."
Jason wondered what Artemis' powers were. She had just asked him, so would it be rude of him to ask her? It seemed only fair. "What can you do?" he said, after deciding that it was appropriate to ask her. Artemis had told him that she was in manipulation, but manipulation had the widest range of powers. Most people could control some part of weather or a certain element, but sometimes they had something more unique.

She noticed herself looking at him as she quickly turned her head away as she clasped her hands together letting them lay on her stomach as she looked over towards the beach. He seemed kind of...weird? With her?Yes weird? Maybe. It was strange maybe it was just her. Artemis was quite the awkward girl herself. She wondered what was going through his mind. And not to mention what things he could do with his gift. It sounded interesting.
Hearing him sort of tell her he pranked in an offended tone she pressed her lips to a line. "I didnt mean to offend you" She let out a giggle slightly. She raised a brow. "Bigger? On the inside? Like in Harry potter?" She let out a small giggle as she thought of the Tent in Harry Potter. Shaking her head she inhaled nodding. "Well thats cool. I know I could use that power at times." Artemis looked at him with a small smile. His powers were...cool in there own way. She wondered if he could use his Illusions in a fighting match or if they were just defensive.
Blinking a few times as Jason asked what she could do she replied with a small shrug. "Oh nothing really just manipulate a few things here and there" She brought her hands up to show him. Missy really didnt think her powers were all that great. "Fire" She said snapping her fingers having a flame ignite on the tips of her fingers letting it crawl up her arm then disperse. "Air" She said sending a large gust of air around Jason with a smirk. "And Earth" Missy turned towards the water as she recreated the small scene with the family.

"Oh, no, I'm not offended," Jason said, not wanting her to feel bad or think that he didn't like her. "I was just surprised that you thought that. And yes, Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Doctor Who, et cetera," he listed all of the things that he had been compared to. The tent and Hermione's bag in Harry Potter, Mary Poppins' bag, and the Doctor's Tardis were just a few of the many. "Yeah, it's helpful, but I prefer illusion," he told her.
Jason's eyes widened a bit as Artemis displayed her three powers. "You call that 'nothing'?"he asked her. "I must say, that those are pretty cool." However common Artemis' powers were, she did perform them with a certain grace and adoration that Jason rarely saw in others. He always wondered how some people could act as if their powers were nothing. Even if they had had them since birth, it was hard to believe that anyone could go through a day without thinking of how extraordinary their powers were. It was clear that Artemis was very fond of her powers, and that she didn't take them for granted.

Artemis inhaled as she wondered if she had offended him. Hopefully she didnt but if she did she would live. It wasnt often she cared if she hurt other peoples feelings. But something felt different about this Jason fellow. She nodded happily he was fine with her comment. When he started naming off the examples of his other power she nodded with a smile. "Oh right right" She said clasping her hands in front of her. She wondered what sort of things he could do with his Illusion gift. Perhaps he would show her in time.
Missy shrugged as he told her he liked her powers. She smiled but still denied it. "Well thank you I guess. There kinda just there" She said with another shrug as she wrinckled her nose. "Hey um Jason" Artemis asked turning her body to look up at him. She eyes his complection and his dark eyes. "I was wondering, are uh..." She pressed her lips to a line. "You Hungry at all? I kinda am" Missy wondered maybe he was hungy and they could get a bite to eat. The walk around somewhere.
