❖What does 'liquid time' mean? Liquid time means that your posts can be spread out over days. For example, Sally can post at 10am today, and Jack can post later that afternoon. Sally can then reply the next day, etc. Here at Oceanside, we predominantly use liquid time because it's often more convenient. However, if you and another player are online at the same time, you can opt for Linear time, which means that things are sort of in 'real time'. Traditionally, your posts would be shorter, but they'd only be minutes apart.
❖How many characters can I have? As many as you're comfortable with. If you can juggle a dozen different characters, that's fantastic, just be sure that you're able to keep all of them active.
❖What does 'third person' mean? 'Third person' is the point of view that your posts should be written in. Examples of the three different types of point of view are:First Person: I walked over to the closet and I put on a pair of my shoes.
Second Person: You walked over to the closet and you put on a pair of your shoes.
Third Person: Sally walked over to the closet and she put on a pair of her shoes.
At Oceanside, we post in third person, past tense ('Sally walked' instead of 'Sally walks'). The only exceptions are for thoughts. (Sally walked to the closet and thought, 'I should wear my brown shoes today.')
