Andy Weaver gives off every impression of being a regular teenager. He complains about homework, checks out girls, and would rather be out having fun than stuck in a classroom. Andrew falls on the side of logic and reason. He avoids running into a problem without first analyzing the situation. Quite judgmental, Weaver quickly decides if a person will be of use to him or if the person is a waste of his time. Andrew finds meaning for his life in violence. Blood and death fascinate him. He controls his impulses, but is always ready for a challenge.

Andrew turned over restlessly in his sleep. His dreams were haunted by twisted memories. In his dream, he was 12. Andrew's mom paced restlessly around the kitchen. She was frantically shouting into a phone. Andrew stood slightly to the side of the room, his shirt and pants stained with blood. His head was tilted downward giving the appearance of shame. Andrew remembered staring down at the stained red ribbons splotched all over his clothes and his fascination at the sight of the spilled life covering his clothes. He had been in another fight. His mom had already called the other boy's mom and now she was vehemently talking to Andrew's father. She paused for a moment and roughly grabbed Andrew, forcing him to look up at her. "Do you know what you've done?! Do you even care?! I can't believe this," she shouted in his face. Andrew's eyes glowed with pride at his accomplishment, not guilt. He didn't quite understand why his mom never understood that he had won. Why didn't she congratulate him? Why didn't she realize that he had easily beaten the other boy? Suddenly she slapped him. "Why are you smiling!?" she shrieked. Andrew staggered backwards. His mom collapsed into a kitchen chair, sobbing. The dream faded and Andrew awoke to find himself staring at a plain white ceiling. He gently touched his cheek. Andrew rolled over and let sleep overtake him again.
