Weaver waited in the shadows near the secret passage by the pool. He knew that his prey would come here. Excitement flowed through Weaver like electricity. He felt charged. Each breath harvested more of the sweet air around him.
Closer. So very soon.
The darkness enveloped Weaver and created a soft blanket that obscured him from view. When the time was right, Weaver would reveal himself and take down his quarry.
The impenetrable silence was only broken by Weaver's own heartbeat and the hiss of his breathing through the mask. The air grew still as the moment of conflict approached.

TK made his way to the secret passage at the pool. Covered in his custom armor, Tobias was a fearsome sight to behold. He moved quickly towards his destination despite the heavy gear. The moonlight shattered the dark shadows cast by the numerous school buildings. TK appeared to be a demon moving among the pools of moonlight and shadow.
He approached the tunnel's entrance, but stopped as a cold, growling voice broke the silence of the night.

At last...
Weaver watched as Tobias finally approached. The sound of TK's footsteps seemed to echo loudly in the dead silence. Time slowed down as the wannabe hero drew closer and closer to Weaver's hiding place.
"I've been waiting for you," Weaver finally called out to TK. Slowly, with the utmost care, Weaver emerged from his cocoon of shadows. Stepping into the pale moonlight, he tilted his head slowly at TK, as if inspecting him.
Good, he's wearing his silly costume. We'll see how well it protects him.
Already, Weaver had begun to analyze his opponent. Soon, he would dismantle him.
"Do you know who I am?"

A voice called out to Tobias and broke his single-minded focus. TK took a careful step back. Like a ghost, a stranger materialized out of the shadows nearest the secret tunnel's entrance. As the stranger moved forward, he tilted his head ever so slightly. The motion seemed unnatural to Tobias. It was as if the stranger felt like it was the right way to act, so he forced himself to do it.
The white fox mask instantly drew Tobias's attention. He had seen this person numerous times, but never in person, never this close. The White Fox's presence intimidated Tobias. This wasn't how he had imagined meeting the criminal.
Adrenaline coursed through Tobias's body as he felt his muscles tense in nervous anticipation. "You're the White Fox," Tobias managed to respond. His voice sounded far away as if TK were watching this scene play out from above. "What do you want? Why are you here?" Tobias asked as feelings of anger began to bubble within himself.

Weaver let Tobias's questions hang in the air. He did not come here to talk. The wild thrill of the impending fight threatened to burst out if he didn't act soon.
One.
Weaver prepared himself to attack.
Two.
Fingers closed around the handle of the knife hidden in Weaver's pocket.
Three.
Weaver sprang forward with superhuman agility. He easily sidestepped Tobias's sloppy punch and landed his own punch to the side of TK's face.

Tobias waited for a response that would never come.
Without warning, the White Fox ran forward. Tobias quickly steeled his nerves and aimed a fist at the charging assailant. Surprisingly, White Fox dodged. "How--?" Tobias wondered before feeling a punch slam into his head. Sparks exploded in front of TK's vision. Even through the mask, the force of the punch had been immense. He reeled in pain and stumbled around as his vision blurred.
Tobias tried to shake the feeling. He turned and found the White Fox merely watching him. TK shook his head and once again took up a fighting stance. This time, he moved forward and attempted to hit White Fox again. His fist swung through empty air as his opponent dodged.

Too easy.
Weaver watched Tobias stumble about. He waited. Perhaps he was wrong, this fight would end much to quickly. Now, Tobias attacked. With ease, Weaver dodged. He grabbed Tobias and flipped him through the air.
"Use your power!" Weaver roared. This was not entertaining.

Tobias found the world spinning out of control as he tumbled through the air. He hit the ground hard. With the air knocked out of him, Tobias only vaguely noticed the voice yelling at him. The idea came slowly. Shadows could help him. Tobias needed to use his abilities. Numbly, he reached for his shadow-vial. He clutched it loosely in his and and managed to stand up.
A strong kick caught TK in the chin as he regained his balance. He flew backwards and collapsed at the edge of the pool. His shadow-vial landed with a soft splash in the pool.

Weaver shook his head in disgust at TK. What a pathetic waste of time. Weaver walked up closer to the disoriented boy. As Tobias stood up, Weaver swung his leg up and kicked TK. Again, Tobias ended up on the ground.
What a joke. I can't believe I wasted all that time and energy to draw him out.
Weaver drew out one of his knives. He knelt down beside TK and grabbed the collar of his armor to pull him up a bit. "This is Bloodreaver," Weaver said, showing the knife to Tobias. "I hope you--"
Without warning, a shadow-wolf tackled Weaver. Hastily, he picked himself up and sized up the new enemy. The shadow-wolf seemed to flicker in and out of reality and the outstretched hand of Tobias explained the beast's sudden arrival. Weaver ran forward in a disjointed path to make it harder for Tobias to follow. The wolf attempted to crush Weaver with a bite once he was in range, but he jumped over it and sliced through it while twirling in the air. The monster dispersed into air. Landing gracefully on his feet, Weaver walked back over to Tobias.

Tobias's attempt to defeat the White Fox using his power had failed miserable. The energy drain had weakened Tobias even more and he doubted he could do it again. No. This wasn't supposed to happen. Tobias rolled over and struggled to get up as his enemy approached. Another kick knocked Tobias back down. This was it.
The moonlight caused the knife to glow. Roughly, White Fox removed Tobias's mask leaving him vulnerable. No. Tobias wanted to close his eyes, but couldn't. The knife moved close to his throat.

Hmmm...
As Weaver brought Bloodreaver to TK's throat, he paused. "You know, I would normally kill you, but I'm feeling a bit merciful tonight. I really hoped you would be more of a challenge. I can't help but feel like you could do so much better," Weaver admitted. He pulled Bloodreaver back.
"Your shadow ability intrigues me. I want to see more of it," Weaver told Tobias. He tapped Bloodreaver against his chin. "On the other hand, my desire for bloodshed won't be satisfied like this."
Without warning, Bloodreaver ripped into Tobias. The knife pierced armor and skin.

Tobias howled in pain as the knife drew blood. He felt the warmth of his life spilling out. Breathing had become difficult. Outside of TK's blurry range of vision, The White Fox was doing something. The fox mask suddenly consumed Tobias's field of view. The pure white mask had been desecrated by a blood red hand print placed diagonally along the mask. The blood glowed in the moonlight. The White Fox leaned away and stood up.
Tobias tried to move, but pain overwhelmed his senses as a foot crushed his left arm. Another scream ripped the night air. Tobias helplessly watched as the masked figure faded into darkness.

Weaver stood up.
One last thing.
He stomped down, hard on Tobias's arm, cracking the bone. With this final violent act, he turned and walked away. The night may not have lived up to his expectations, but he felt confident that Tobias might very well become a worth opponent. If not, Weaver could always just kill him.
See you soon, hero.

Tobias fought to stay conscious through the searing pain. It felt like an eternity before a faculty member found his wrecked body beside the pool. TK was taken to the medical ward of the school. Shattered, Tobias let cold darkness overtake him. One word swirled in his mind.
Lyra.
