Love Manipulation: Cora has the ability to change ever single aspect of love within someone. She can make someone fall in love, fall out of love, and, even incur hatred in some cases. However, this has side effects. Cora often hears voices inside her own head, often by those in the room with her.
Cora, if she's in tune with her powers, can sense hatred, the opposite of love. It's brother, death, is also factored into her powers. If death is approaching, she may just get a simple migraine or feel faint.

( Personality )
Cora was born in London, England, to a young business man with the dream of starting his very own company, and a hard-working librarian. Her father, when she was six, ushered the family, including Cora and her sister, Jessica, to Vermont. Cora doesn't remember much of England, because she was so young when she moved. Cora does sometimes, rarely, slip into a British accent around family members, as her parents do speak with an accent.
When Cora was fourteen, and her sister was sixteen, Jessica was driving along an icy country road with her boyfriend when they slipped on the ice and skidded into a tree. Jessica and her boyfriend William, were killed instantly.
The only memento of Jessica now is a set of leather-bound notebooks that she writes on to record her life to Jess. While she knows that Jess may not see it, she is satisfied by venting to her. Cora believes that she received her powers that very day.

This is it, Cora. You're off to great places, she thought, ignoring the childish fact that the last sentence happened to be from a Dr. Seuss book. Cora knew that she was much more mature than that. Much more mature.
Cora scolded herself a bit more as she set her vintage suitcase on the floor. Cora had an evident liking for vintage and classic pieces that had a feminine frill throughout them, with the exception of a few articles of clothing that Jess, her deceased sister, had handed down to her.
Cora honestly hated the word deceased and anything along the lines of it. It always ended up making Cora flinch or feel a twinge of depression and agony come over her once more, only making it harder for her to keep her sealed grief from her family and the people around her.
Shaking her head, Cora looked up to see tears welling in her mother's eyes. She silently prayed that her mother was wearing waterproof mascara to keep her from looking like a raccoon, even though she wasn't going to be there when Cora goes. Her father is her designated driver to the airport. She would be on her own after that.
"Mom, are you alright?" she asked, her voice dripping with concern. Cora tended to be recklessly excessive sometimes.
"Yes, dear," she whimpered, clearly not fine.
Cora placed a pale, delicate hand on her mother's frail shoulder. "I'm going to miss you, Mom," she assured her, wrapping her arms around her in a hug.
"I'm going to miss you too, dear." Her mother called her 'dear' very often. Her mother pulled away and Cora's gaze fell on Luke, who leaned against the fridge, pressing buttons on his Nintendo DS Lite. He never did look up, expressing the fact that he was still jealous of her insignificant power.
Luke must have felt that she was watching him, because he glanced up with an angry expression on his face.
"I'm going to miss you, Luke," she said, steeping closer.
"Why would you remember your powerless brother?" he muttered, meeting her eyes with a steely glare.
Cora hated the icy coating that he wore when he was near her. She really hated the way he did this, but knew that he would possibly lash out if she confronted him about their issues. "Because you're Luke. Too hard to forget." Cora really couldn't think of a reason, but her response was much better than saying, 'Just because.'
Her father cleared his throat. It sounded so businesslike that she nearly forgot it was her father. He had transformed since he was gone a lot, and he had a great deal of trouble changing back into his moody, father-like self that she had once known, even for the departure of his very daughter.
"Dad," she began, knowing she couldn't say more. She crossed the long room to the kitchen table and hugged his lightly. Her father put his arms around her.
"It won't be the same without you," he said formally, making her want to strangle him. He showed no emotion.
"Yes." That was all she could say before she gently hugged Luke, kissed he mother, and gathered her suitcase and her carry-on while her father gathered the rest and stuffed them in the car. She followed at his heals, setting her stuff in the trunk, with the exception of her tote. She climbed in the front seat and pulled out her iPod, knowing that her father would be silent the whole ride.
Cora waved to her mother and brother as they pulled out of the driveway.
Coraline Hendricks was off to California, off to her new life where she could focus on her powers.
