Penelope walked with Aaron along the beach. She bent down to take her shoes off, loving the feeling of the sand inbetween her toes. "I've missed this," she said to him, "We don't have this where I'm from."

"I don't either, don't worry," Aaron said as he put his hands in his pocket. He kept his shoes on, despite knowing sand would get in them. "I'm from Nebraska, so not much going on for me," he said as he watched the waves crash against the ocean. "It's another reason why I came back."

"I'm from Toronto, so the beaches are usually really cold," Penelope told Aaron. "How's Nebraska?" she asked, having never been there herself. "Is that in the middle of nowhere?"

"If nowhere you mean the United States... yes. It's pretty much smack-dab in the middle of the country," Aaron said with a slight laugh. Oh how he missed home. It was where he grew up and he could not deny that. "Toronto, eh? That's pretty cold."

"Yeah, coming to California was a huge difference. It rarely gets above 80* back home," Penelope said. "What about Nebraska? Is it a big difference, and not just weather-wise?"

"I think it is much colder in Nebraska than here," Aaron said, "but I think it's warmer than Toronto in the winter time, possibly hotter in the summer too. It's also humid too. But it's humid here as well- so... California and Nebraska are similar, but different." Aaron tried to explain, but he thought he failed. "Nebraska isn't a state worth traveling too, so don't worry about it."

"Okay," Penelope said, not really getting what Aaron was saying. "Toronto's pretty cool, if I do say so myself. Definitely worth traveling to," she told him. Penelope looked out at the ocean and took a deep breath in, she loved the taste and smell of ocean air.

"Maybe one day I'll go up there," Aaron said quietly as he looked out onto the ocean. He could taste the salt and he curled his toes, finding it strange that sand managed to sneak into his shoes. "Do you prefer lakes or oceans?" Aaron asked Penelope.

"Oceans, I think," Penelope said. It was a strange question, and she wondered why Aaron was asking it, so she asked him, "Why do you ask?"

"I'm not sure. I was thinking about animals in the ocean, and lakes came to mind," Aaron said, his eyes looking down at Penelope before he looked back at the ocean. "I think I like the ocean more. Lakes tend to be more cold... but there are tire swings by lakes," he smiled to himself and turned back to Penelope, "you never see those at the ocean."

"Lakes can be warm," Penelope said, "And Oceans can be freezing, it just depends on where you are. And there are usually more vicious animals in the Ocean." She thought about the difference between Oceans and Lakes, but quickly realized that it was an unreasonable thing to think about. They're just bodies of water, she thought to herself.

"Salt water can kill you too," Aaron said, "but lake water is filled with algae and bacteria, gah, I don't know. Water doesn't bother me. I don't know why I'm thinking about the negatives." Aaron lightly laughed and let out a sigh. "It's nice to be back here."

"I hate water either way," Penelope said, before moving on. "It is nice, isn't it? And more people should be showing up soon, too. Ooh! I should throw an end of summer party," she said, excitedly.

"So soon? Or do you mean much later?" Aaron asked for clarification. Penelope got real exited when she mentioned parties and Aaron uneasily laughed. Parties were stressed for him. He always found himself using his powers during that time especially. He always focused on the drunks, trying to make them calm down, and sleezy girls, trying to keep them to put their pants on.

"Probably right before school actually starts," Penelope said, thinking about it. She had always thrown the best parties, and what better way to start off her Junior year than with one? "We could have it here, on the beach, and have a bonfire, it will be amazing!"
