It was far too long. Lyra was separated from her love, Off-Key Karaoke for far too long. Stupid school, stupid life, stupid friends, stupid boyfriend getting in the way of her and her true love-making spot. Lyra could have sworn tears formed in her eyes as she touched the handle to the establishment, pulling the door open and walked in, the warm room welcoming her. She looked around, the wooden floors creaking a welcome to her, the bartender and waitresses waving to her. Oh it felt so good to be home.

Tahlah blinked, turning back, still sat on the table, cross-legged. "Sorry." She said quietly, head dropping as she got back into her chair. "Lachlan, would you like to sing?"

Vergil felt automatically bad for bringing her down and waved his hands in front of himself, "Ah! I deed noht meen ett tu saund bahd Tahlah!" He buried his face in his hands and peeked at her between his fingers.

Tahlah gave a shrug, hiding inside the jacket she wore. "It's fine...." She wasn't used to being told to stop, at home in Houston, no one cared, they simply thought she was another wild animal. It was almost normal there.

Vergil chewed at his lip and waved to Lachlan who popped out mumbling something about getting to bed then sat next to Tahlah to apologize again. His beads gave a coo and he gave a murmured understanding back that echoed in his core much like the sound he initially got.

Tahlah sighed, curling in her seat. "Should I.... not have shifted?" She asked, not looking up.

Vergil tilted his face a little to look at hers more directly, "Eff yu vant honehsty, ett ess ah genurhul rule tu noht use vohn's pauhurs autside ov skoohl. Yu ahre ahmung ah freund heer buht ve muhst be vary ov those whu du noht pohsess vhat ve du. Noht.. noht evhureevohn uhndurstands."

"It was like that at home, too. I couldn't use my shifting in school, though. Everywhere else was fine, they just thought I was a stray animal, or a wild one." She shrugged. "I guess we should go back...." Tahlah couldn't quite control herself yet, and was slowly shifting into a tiger, skin striping oddly, making people turn to see what was wrong.

Vergil thought quickly and took off his jacket to cover her, leading her out with stray glances pretending like she was just feeling ill. He left a few bills to pay for the little time they had used.
The walk back wasn't quick or rushed but Vergil spent the majority of the time talking to her in a hushed voice to try and soothe her into control over her shifting capabilities. In many ways, he spoke in a tone and acted like one would with a stray or frightened animal though it was by complete accident.

Tahlah whimpered softly, eyes turning feline as a tail sprouted quickly. "Dammit.... Vergil, is there anywhere near here I could shift quickly?"

Vergil looked around and against his better judgment, led them both into an alley for her to shift.

Shifting quickly, the tiger pounced on Vergil and pinned him, growling softly before it became the slight-framed Tahlah again, blushing hard. "S-sorry."

Vergil gasped and stayed against the wall with the heavy weight of the tiger pressing upon him and his mind that naturally fell into the fight-or-flight mode. He breathed in relief when he had the smaller frame of Tahlah against him instead; it was much less intimidating, "Ett ess ohkay." Smiling to her softly in the dark alley, he put a hand to her cheek in comfort.

Staying silent, Tahlah did nothing for a moment, then leaned in and kissed Vergil lightly, blushing hard when she pulled back.

Vergil wasn't expecting his first kiss from a girl to happen in an alleyway or come from a girl who was practically a stranger, but that's where it happened, and that's where it came from, and he didn't know how he felt about her but he knew what she tasted like; it was this.. this strange mixture of natural flesh and something sweet but with a zing, a spice, and he just wanted to, selfishly, taste it a little more. He leaned up from against the bricks he was laying on and kissed her back just as lightly. It was almost like a feather grazing gently against her but its presence was something that couldn't be ignored.
