Off-Key Karaoke was Lyra's favorite place to be on the weekend. She loved the feeling of people watching her sing, enjoying her singing. The applause went straight to her head. She sang as often as she could and there was never a quiet time when she was there. Lyra went to the establishment alone today and waited for her turn which was coming up. Lyra flipped through the song book, deciding what song to sing. Lyra whispered to the song jockey, choosing "Young Lovers" by The Love Grenades. "Alright, it's your turn," the man whispered and Lyra and she got up stage. The lights flashed on Lyra and she grinned wildly at the audience. It was like preforming live. The music started and Lyra started to bob her head, her brown boots tapping on the ground to the beat. " Back in your arms forever," Lyra began to sing, her voice echoing through the speakers. She continued the song, contradicting the name of the karaoke place. She was on key and felt the song travel through her body, giving plenty of emotion in her voice to the song. Take me to the top/Throw me through the air/I hit ground like I'm never even there/I'll be downtown, I'll be downtown I'll be downtown cos my heart is always there," Lyra was now at the chorus, spinning around as she sang. Her voice was nowhere near tired yet. She walked around the stage, continuing the song. How she presented herself on stage was important. She couldn't be still as a rock. She had to move around to the song, let it take her and the audience away. "Come on young lovers," with her free hand, she pointed to the audience, "let's do this," she winked at this line before the final half of the song was starting.

Nefertari walked into the karoake club and headed over to the bar, sitting on a stool. She tapped her foot to the beat of the song, the girl singing was pretty good. She ordered a drink and waved to a group over at another side of the club while she was waiting for the drink. The bartender didn't bother carding her and slid the drink her way, she took a sip and greeted the group of people who had walked over to her.

Jamie sat by himself along one of the walls listening to Lyra. He was smiling staring up at her resting his chin on an up-turned palm. This was The type of music he enjoyed, Upbeat and happy. He furrowed his eyebrows contemplating joining her in the song.

"Cos you're the only one that I let get away, cos you're the only one that made me want to stay," Lyra's voice rang. She ran a free hand through her hair and closed her eyes as she sang the refrain. As that part was over, the song came to an end, along with Lyra's dancing. "Come on young lovers, let's do this right," she finished the song and her hand was up in the air and she grinned wildly as the people of the club clapped. Lyra bowed and put the microphone stand up on the mic. She was about to leave then went back to the microphone, "thank you," she thanked and waved, giddy and happy as she jumped off the stage. She took a deep breath and sat down at and empty seat and grinned.

Clapping with the others he smiled, waiting to see If anyone would step up before he did. Smiling over at the songstress he gave her a meager thumbs up and turned around.

Seeing the thumbs up from the teacher, Lyra grinned and put a hand to her heard, nodding and mouthing a "thank you" to the boy. She appreciated the extra, small attention recognizing. Lyra sat up straight, eager to see who would sing next.

Nefertari clapped as well and smiled at the girl who walked off the stage, she requested to sing a song and wondered if anyone was going to go before her. She had always loved singing, and this song made her laugh,"Walk like an Egyptian", by the Bangels. She looked around and figured no one else was going, she got an approving nod from the person in charge and walked up the stage. She smiled and waited for the song to start, she closed her eyes for a second, trying to get used to the light. The music started and she sang when it was time,"All the old paintings on the tombs They do the sand dance don't you know", she said, grinning as she sang the words.

Lyra's grin remained as Tari sang. It was a silly song, but a good karaoke one at that. As she sang the chorus, Lyra did the silly Egyptian dance that went along with the song. Audience interaction with the singer was important. Audiences had to show they were having a good time.

Laughing when she saw some people join in and do the 'Egyptain' dance. She smiled appreciatively and finished the song. She thanked the audience and waved, she went down the stage and sat near Lyra,"Hey! What's up?", she asked.

Lyra clapped when the song was over and then saw Tari come her way. "Oh! Hey!" Lyra greeted with a wave. She smiled at the newcomer girl. "Nothing much. I just got in town today and there's no place to say 'welcome home!' than by karaoke!" she exclaimed and pushed some of her light brown hair back.

"I'm good with my water, thanks," Lyra said as she held up her water bottle. She flashed a smile and shook her head at the person taking the drink orders. "It's my favorite place to go," she said as she uncapped the water bottle and took a drink.
