Room 609 is a large, two-person, corner room with two bay windows.

Nefertari came in with her bags, using the wind to make them much lighter. Tari liked to come to school earlier so she could set up her room how she liked it before classes. She set them down on the floor and looked around at her new room. Nice, better than last year., she thought to herself, looking out the window. Her roommate last year had been tolerable, but the room had had very small windows and was on the small side. She wondered who she'd be rooming with and looked at the sign at the door, cursing her luck.

Penelope carried her bags in one hand as she made her way from the parking lot towards Houdini Hall. She breathed in the fresh west coast air. It was good to be home.
When I was a little girl, my mother told me the story of sleeping beauty.
Penelope walked down the hallway, running her hand along the wall, shocking it with electricity as she went. She loved her power dearly, it was the only thing in the world that she truly loved, and she used it whenever she could.
The story of sleeping beauty was about a princess who was waiting for her prince to come rescue her from the fire-breathing dragon.
Penelope was looking forward to another year and Oceanside. It'd been two months since she'd been able to fight someone and was planning on signing up for the Arena as soon as she was unpacked. She reached room 609 and opened the door, wondering what her new room looked like. If it hadn't been for one thing, she would have been extraordinarily happy with Room 609, but there was just that one thing...
That Halloween, my mother bought me a princess costume, but I was disappointed; I wanted to be the fire-breathing dragon.
She wanted to scream.

Nefertari put away her clothes in the wardrobe on the side of the room she had picked and placed her pictures and other things on top of her dresser. She heard footsteps and sighed, I forgot, she came early to school as well. She watched Penelope Greene walk in the door, and gave her a tight smile, her eyes communicating her dislike for the girl,"Welcome roomie", she greeted her. Penelope Greene, when would she ever be able to rid herself of this girl.

Penelope tried to be somewhat civil, but her distaste for the girl was causing her nose to wrinkle up as if there was a terrible stench in the room. "Don't call me that," Penelope said. "If there is a God, you will be out of here by tomorrow morning." Penelope set her bags down on the bed that was left, thankfully it was the one underneath one of the windows.

"Oh, you're pleasant, aren't you?", she replied, though her feelings were exactly the same. Nefertari definitely would not be the one moving though, she liked this room. She started putting up her usual posters, to give the room some of her personality. Maybe that would maybe the company bearable. She hoped Penelope would give in and complain to one of the Headmistresses and switch rooms.

"You're lucky I'm being this pleasant right now," Penelope said bitterly. "This is so ridiculous! I'm going to go to one of the Headmistresses and make them move you." After a few minutes of being in the room, Penelope was able to get a good look of the place, and she doubted there was a better room in Houdini Hall. There was no way that she was moving out.

"Move me?", she asked, raising an eyebrow,"If anyone's going to move it's you", she said, with contempt on her face. There was no way she was going out of this room, it was perfect. It was just large enough for a good party and the bay windows would make great escape routes.

Penelope laughed, "You are highly mistaken. This room is mine. Check the plaque; my name's first." Penelope pulled out her bedspread and made a point of making her bed. She had blood-red sheets and a white duvet comforter. When she had finished making her bed she began pulling out her books and lining them up on her shelves. "This is all your fault. You and your rotten luck."

Nefertari rolled her eyes,"Your argument is irrelevant. I came here first, and all of my things are already set up", she stated, gesturing around her side of the room to show it was completely done. Her eyes narrowed when Penelope blamed her,"Watch it Greene, it's not like I requested to room with you. You could always be a good little girl and room somewhere else", she said, her expression unfriendly.

Penelope laughed again. "Me? Good? And here I thought you knew me." Penelope moved onto setting up her laptop and putting her clothes in the closet. "I don't care if you were here first. It's my room."

Nefertari laughed as well at the idea of Penelope being good. She had never been a good little girl, even when they were kids. Tari set up all her chargers and various electronics in a corner near her bed. She liked the room and she wouldn't let Penelope ruin it for her,"Guess we'll be roomies then, won't this be fun", she said, with mock-chipperness.

"I am not happy about this," Penelope said, setting up her full length mirror on the closet door, fully knowing that it was Nefertari's weakness. In fact, it may have been the reason why she was setting it up. Penelope was going to make this room as displeasing to Nefertari as possible.

"Like I give a damn about whether you're happy", she said, rolling her eyes then narrowing them as she saw Penelope move the mirror. She'd have to watch her powers in this room. She'd have to get her a waterbed one day,"Oh, Nelly, don't be like that. I'm sure we'll be the best of friends", she said, smiling brightly. She figured she'd annoy her as much as possible, it might get her out, plus Nefertari got a kick out of it. It took her back to when they started as freshmen.

A ball of electricity began to form in Penelope's hands when Nefertari called her 'Nelly' "Watch yourself," Penelope warned her. "You don't want your hair to get fried, do you?"
