"Whoo. Well this is interesting." Derek looked around as he came up from the passages below the school, and took in the surroundings. He hadn't been to another hall yet, and he wasn't too surprised to see it.... just look about the same.

Although it was past curfew, Aaron was not going to go to bed. At least there was no "lights out" rule. Hopefully that wouldn't take place. Aaron sat on the couch with a notebook on his lap, his homework on top as a writing surface. Aaron wasn't the type of person to do home work right away, then again, who wanted to do that right after school?
The common room was more crowded at night during the school year since people weren't out in about. He was looking forward to when he would work next. Not just to get out of the school, but to hang out with Melrose too.

Melrose quietly shuffled into the Hercules Hall Common Room, finally finished with her first prefect round for the night. Every hour interval meant a new roundabout to make about campus looking for the usual rule-breakers. It was definitely a quick task what when you can run faster than a fighter jet, but when Melrose was feeling a tad exhausted, as she was sampling now, running at the speed of light was tough to do.
She cracked her knuckles, taking in the scene in the common room. Everything and everyone looked to be in order. Just the way she liked it. Eventually her eyes patrolled over to the couches where to her pleasant surprise, who else but Aaron was sitting.
Melrose's heart skipped a beat. She absolutely loved hanging around Aaron and hadn't seen him for a few days. The night had just gotten a bit better. As the energy and adrenaline zapped back into her, Melrose made her way over to her friend. She leaned over the back of the couch, trying to surprise Aaron for fun.
"Hey watcha working on, stranger?" she smiled, greeting him.

Derek then slid back against the wall, blending in with the rest of the students. He kept an eye out for Lia, wondering if he'd see her. Tari as well, who seemed to be taking a disproportionate amount of time to climb out of the tunnels.

Lia had just walked into the tv room when she noticed Derek had entered. She smiled a bit as she walked over to him; happy to meet someone she recognized. "Hey, welcome to Hercules. Boring over where you're from?" She asked, realizing she didn't know much else about him other than his name. Lia looked around the room, noticing other groups of students talking between themselves.

"Oh, just those 'about me' information papers you get during the first week of school," Aaron shrugged over at Mel. He flashed a smile. It was nice to see her approach him, especially with her busy position as prefect. "It's always the same thing at the beginning of the year." But oh well. At least things changed after everyone got settled in.
"How are you, Mel?" he asked her. "I'm happy to see we have some classes together," Aaron said. It was great to have her in his classes. Such a pretty girl to stare- er, talk to.

Derek smiled when he saw Lia coming over to him. "Hey, nice seeing you again. And it seems things are quiet and empty over in our hall. Guess the Einsteins tire easily." As he joked about his hall, Derek chuckled.
Tilting his head, he asked, "So what brought you to Oceanside?"

Lia laughed along with Derek, it had been a while since she could just joke around with someone. She tucked a lock of hair behind her hair as he asked his question. "You mean other than having powers?" Lia asked with a raised eyebrow, unsure of what he meant.

Tari walked over to Lia and Derek,"Hey, miss us much?", she asked the girl with a laugh.

Derek shrugged at Lia's question, "Sure, I guess. Just heard there were other schools here, that's all."
Derek turned to Tari, who just approached them, jokingly saying, "Took you long enough."

"Yeah, I got distracted with something", she replied with a laugh.

Melrose fast walked her way around the couch, grabbing a seat next to Aaron. She sat cross legged on the couch and smoothed out the wrinkles in her bright yellow tank top.
"I've been pretty great." she replied, looking to Aaron and then back to her smoothing efforts, "I'm definitely excited about our classes together. Heck, I'm really excited about classes in general. Oceanside in not anywhere near like my old school. Well, I mean, the whole gifted side is a different story but academic wise is what I mean. I really like the teachers and their theatre department is amazing." She grinned, keeping the mood positive. But Melrose's eyes fell onto Aaron's homework and she couldn't help but worry she was posing as a distraction.
"I'm sorry if I'm bothering you with the homework. I wouldn't want to interrupt your concentration." She apologized thoughtfully, the last thing Melrose wanted to be was a nuisance, especially if Aaron was real busy. "About you's" weren't exactly the biggest brain teasers, but maybe Aaron was the kind of student that needed silence to get his homework done.

"You'd think there'd be lots more fun stuff going on, you know the entire school being filled with kids with insane powers and all", she shrugged, there was also the death bringing down the school's spirit. She wondered where and when they'd hold the funeral...She shook those thoughts from her head, not wanting to deal with that right now.

Derek laughed, "Hard to believe so many kids have powers, at least for me." Looking around he took in the amount of kids just in Hercules, it amazed him.
"Speaking of interesting things, isn't there supposed to be a fight in the arena coming up soon?"
