Cora was quite shocked when she heard a voice come up behind her. She started, grasping the railing for balance. Cora soon comprehending the girl's question and faced her, smiling tentatively. "Oh! Nothing. Just my power. It's sort of useless. I can't use it, really." Cora restricted herself from saying more. "I'm Cora," she began, addressing the brunette. "And you are...?"

"Sorry! I didn't mean to startle you," Robyn said. "Sorry." Robyn felt a small pang somewhere inside her when she said that her power was useless. She couldn't imagine what that would be like, not at all, but it sounded horrible. "I'm Robyn," she introduced herself. "Its nice to meet you." Robyn paused for a moment, and then took a slight step forward. "Do you mind me asking what your power is?" she asked.

Cora smiled at the hearing of the name. "Robyn is such a pretty name," she commented softly. "It, indeed, is nice to meet you also." She shook Robyn's hand lightly and sighed. "My power, Robyn, is that I can manipulate love. I can make it fall upon one, seize it from one--my power reflects the Greek goddess Aphrodite. Along with that, I can easily feel hatred and can, at times, predict death." Cora cast a cautious look towards Robyn. She quickly scanned for any signs of boredom, and then checked to see if she was interested. Her pupils were slightly dilated, at least they were in her view. So she may be interested. "Am I boring you? My sincerest apologies if so."

"Thank you," Robyn said, "Cora is also a really beautiful name." It reminded her of coral, in the ocean. Soft yet hard, and brightly colorful. Robyn listened intently as Cora explained her power. To manipulate love, she thought as Cora spoke. At first thought it seemed slightly romantic, but with deeper thought Robyn realized that it could also be extraordinarily dangerous. She connected it to one of her own powers, the ability to change the minds of others. And the ability to feel hatred, and predict death? To Robyn, Cora's power was fascinating, so she was surprised when Cora asked her if she was bored. "No, not at all," Robyn said. "The opposite, actually. Your power seems very interesting, but why is it useless?"

Cora was slightly surprised at the interest Robyn showed. "Thank you, Robyn." She then sighed. "To use my powers could anger very many people. I can alter the past and the future--change fate. It would be absolutely horrible if I did something that ruined someone--I couldn't live with myself. Useless? I consider some of the effects, cheesy as they may sound, nothing but exasperating. Also, some find it best if I rather not use my powers. If I were to date someone, no one could know if anything was real or fake. How could they possibly know?"

"Well," Robyn said, commenting on the last thing Cora mentioned," That could be a way for you to... i don't know... rule out people? If you were to date someone, and they were questioning you of your powers, it could tell you that they don't trust you, you know? I think your power is really based on trust- trust that you have for yourself and your decisions, and trust that other people have for you." Robyn was nowhere near an expert on anything, so she could be telling Cora total bull crap, but it seemed to make sense in Robyn's head.

Cora toyed with the idea mentally for a minute before responding. Trust. My power...built on trust? I never thought of it that way... she thought. "You...you're right. It is sort of a way to 'rule out' people. I never thought of it that way, Robyn. Not once has anything remotely similar crossed my mind," I replied, watching Robyn. "That was good advice. I'm...I'm in awe. Processing this idea...it's wonderful."

Robyn smiled, she was glad that she had been able to help Cora feel better about her power. She wanted to tell her that her power might also grow, with time and practice- that maybe it wasn't just love that she could manipulate- but she didn't want to give Cora false hope. "I'm glad I could help," was all Robyn said.

Cora smiled warmly. "Robyn, what is your power? Now that I've told you mind, I would be delighted to hear yours," she murmured, gazing off to the horizon. Clouds loomed in the gray sky leisurely, pleased with their work, it seemed, in blocking the sun.

"Oh, right," Robyn said. "I can change the minds of others and change aspects of reality, such as physics, time, and matter. The only problem with me is that I have no idea what I'm actually able to do. Headmistress Maria says that there should be a lot more that I can do, I just don't know how to yet." Robyn loved her power, but she wished that she knew more about it and how to use it.

Cora stopped to consider Robyn's power. When Robyn said "matter," however, her mind went back to the eighth grade, to the Law of Conservation of Matter. Matter cannot be created or destroyed, she thought. "If you can change the aspects of reality, there must be some limitations, is there not?" she murmured before changing the subject. "Your power is quite fascinating. Is it possible if you could use it at the moment on an object or...?"

"Right now the only limitation that I know of is what I know... of. For instance, I don't know anything about, um, well a lot of things," she laughed,"I can't change things that I don't know anything about- I can change how time progresses, but I can't go back in time because i don't know how time works. I can't make things disappear, either, because that's impossible, but I can change the state of something." Robyn saw a small puddle off to the side, she focussed on it and changed it to ice, then steam.

Cora watched the puddle freeze, then rise to steam. Fascinating. Very fascinating. "That's reasonable," Cora replied. "I mean the whole restrictions...thing...is reasonable. But that is quite interesting. I always love watching people use their powers."

"I do as well," Robyn said. "And yeah, restrictions are reasonable, but they're not very much fun," she smiled. She walked over to the railing and leaned over it, looking through the trees at the ocean.

Cora smiled. "No, but some restrictions keep us safe from harm. Walls are set up to protect us." She glanced down at her pale hands, grasped tightly around the railing. A slight breeze blew by them. "Where were you before you came here, Robyn?" Cora inquired suddenly. She looked at the girl momentarily before setting her sights back on her hands.
