Cora felt a pang as the reply formed in her head. She flinched, biting down upon her lip. "No. It's fine," she began tentatively, but shook off the lingering feeling before continuing. "I discovered my powers scarecly over a year ago. I believe it was shortly after--after the death of my sister, Jessica, and her boyfriend in a tragic car accident. I don't really know if there was some connection between the two incidents--the death and the discover of my powers. I just began hearing voices titter in my head, and I could control affections. It worked well when my parents were bickering." Cora tried not to let the thought of Jess get to her now. She had been doing so well. "My story is sort of...lame, for lack thereof a better word. I am incapable, it seems, of telling stories verbally. Anyway, how did you discover your power?"

Robyn slightly wished that she hadn't asked Cora when she discovered her powers. She was clearly not entirely comfortable, and Robyn was easily able to see why when Cora told her story. "Oh, gosh, I- I'm so sorry." Robyn had never had a brother or sister, and even if she did she probably still couldn't imagine what it'd be like to lose them unless she actually did lose them. She stopped dwelling on the thought when Cora asked her how she discovered her own powers, which caused her to laugh a bit as she remembered. "I was eleven or twelve, and we'd just gotten a puppy for Christmas. I was running around playing with him and he knocked into a table that had this really incredible porcelain vase that had been passed down through a million generations. As the vase was falling, it looked like it was going in slow motion, but the dog running around beneath it was going just as fast as before. I was able to catch the vase in time, but I didn't realize that it had been me slowing it down."

Cora, as she shook off then daunting feeling of Jess, brightened considerably as she heard of a dog. It was such a happy way to discover your powers. "A puppy! How adorable!" she commented cheerily. "Did your parents realize what had happened?" Cora questioned, slapping back another wind of depression. The cloud recoiled, and hopefully disintegrated into nothing.

"No, my parents didn't find out for a while longer," Robyn said. "They were really surprised, but everything worked out okay."

"That's good, Robyn. That everything is okay now. My little brother resents me now," she sighed, making a face before continuing. "But, he's, what, eight? I'm sure he'll get over it. Luke, my brother, is stubborn."

"Do you know if he has any powers?" She asked Cora. Robyn had always wondered if powers were hereditary, if they could be passed down from parents, and if siblings were more likely to have powers if one of them did. She knew of a few sets of siblings here at Oceanside, but had never asked them about their powers.

Cora shook her head. "Not that I know of. He wouldn't keep it a secret if he did. Luke, I feel, would adore going to a gifted school for the elementary students." Cora paused. "He could develop powers. My grandmother is gifted. I'm not sure what her powers are, however."

Robyn found it interesting that Cora had never spoken to her grandmother about her powers to the point where she would know what they are. "Have you never asked her?" Robyn asked Cora. "Is she still around for you to ask?" If Robyn had known someone with powers- especially a family member- she would have tried to speak to them as much as possible. Perhaps her grandmother died before Cora could ask her, Robyn thought to herself.

"Yes, yes, she's alive and well. My grandmother lives with us. I have asked, indeed, but she didn't bother to reply. I never bothered to ask again--I thought something had happened and she didn't want to talk about it. Then again, she's also partly deaf. She may not of heard me." Cora stopped, glancing at the sky to watch a bird fly by. "I think I'll ask her or my mother soon."

Cora adverted her vision from the sky, letting her gaze fall upon her Timex, which glinted in the lazy afternoon sun. Cora raised an eyebrow at the watch, examining its face closely to see the time. As soon as it was read, she bit down upon her lip. "Oh!" she gasped, fixing her eyes seriously on Robyn and Carson, who idly stared out into oblivion. "I do beg your pardon, Robyn, Carson. Doubly so. I best be going. I have a dinner scheduled with my aunt and uncle soon; I surely cannot miss it," Cora explained cordially, waving adieu to her acquaintances as she hurried to her dorm. Cora did not wish to leave them so abruptly, indeed, but she had to make haste as her relatives were quite impatient people.

Tobias leaned against the railing at the top of the tower. He breathed in deeply, inhaling the chilled night air. Again, the feeling of nervous anticipation had forced TK out of his room. The same feeling had consistently been pushing him to go out at night wearing his super hero equipment. The stars glinted down and reflected off of Tobias's eyes. What is bothering me? TK wondered. He slowly exhaled and pulled the hood of his sweatshirt on.

Weaver climbed the steps of the tower. He wanted to look out over the grounds from up high.
Another cold night. Another chance to hunt.
The cold night air would lead people to bundle up in warm clothes. Generally, these types of clothes would be bulky and hinder movement. It would make it extremely easy for Weaver to disarm, disorient, and dismember any soul.
Upon reaching the top of the tower, Weaver sensed the Tobias's presence. He quickly silenced his breathing and carefully chose his steps to avoid making any sound. Sharply focused on Tobias's back, Weaver slid back into the shadows and waited.
What do we have here? Perhaps...
Deciding to try his luck, Weaver crept forward silently. However, he stopped short of TK by about five steps and narrowed his eyes.
Interesting.
Weaver noticed a sense of uneasiness in TK. He stood up straight and allowed himself to breathe normally. "What are you doing up here?" Weaver asked abruptly.

Tobias hadn't noticed the arrival of Andrew. He spun around quickly and brought his body into an aggressive pose. Without dropping his guard, Tobias replied, "I'm just enjoying the view." At least it was an honest reply. TK studied the new boy carefully. He looked familiar, like someone TK had seen around before, but never talked to. "Who are you?" Tobias asked as he relaxed a bit.

To Weaver, Tobias's response seemed to happen in slow motion. TK turned and rapidly assumed a combat ready stance. Weaver merely smiled.
How sad. He thinks that he's prepared to fight when he stands like that. Completely off balance. Three attacks to take him down.
"Sorry to sneak up on you. I didn't know anyone else would be up here," Andrew said with an apologetic tone. He shrugged as if to show that he didn't mean anything by surprising TK.
I wonder if his power would make him more of a challenge to fight.
"My name is Andrew Weaver. You're Tobias Knight right?" Weaver asked. He knew TK. He had seen him around before and already knew that TK's power involved some kind of manipulation. Manipulators were always fun to fight.

"Uhm, yeah," Tobias responded. He was surprised to learn that Andrew knew his name already. "Andrew, nice to meet you." Tobias looked at the boy questioningly. He hadn't ever really talked to Andrew before. The whole sneaking-up-on-people thing seemed strange, but other than that, Andrew appeared to be quite nice. "What brings you to the tower at this time of night?" Tobias asked, now turning back to look out from the tower.
