Cal whistled in appreciation and watched the ring go, putting her hand on her forehead to cup some shade around her view to see it go and sink like a rock. It never had a chance, "Ex-boyfriend or some shit like that, girly?" There had been a lot of rage in that throw in her opinion though she could obviously be wrong but damn did that ring fly.

She shrugged her shoulder, "Eh, nah. Found it and I thought it'd make me go invisible and see Wraiths." Hana kicked the toes of her shoes to fit them better, "So I just threw it out."
This girl is still here. unsure of what to do, Hana turned around and faced the girl. Nodding to the girl she had one question, "Name?" She speculated the girl from head to toe. The chick was pretty hot, not everyone could pull off that entirely-dyed-hair look. Seems pretty chill, down to earth... she analyzed everything she could about this newcomer, Maybe a good ally to have... depending on what her skills are.
Then she realized, what if this chick wasn't a gifted at all? Just one of those strange girls who walked the evenings. Hana usually had a good sense of judgement though... usually. Not all the time.

Cal laughed when she heard the very obvious LoTR reference and tossed her hair out of her face with a flick of her head, "Well I wish you luck in finding the ring but remember to wear your walking shoes when you have to go sauntering into Mordor to get rid of it." She wasn't really surprised or anything she she was faced full on but gave her the courtesy of facing her in return and answering when questioned, "Cal. You?"
In the moments she waited for her response, she looked her over once in a swift motion of the eyes. Hot. That was all that came to mind.

Tahlah sang to herself, quiet like everything else she did. A tug on her "Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock" shirt pulled the fabric tighter over her torso, and her skinny jeans, well, they were tight enough. She slipped along the pier, stopping to sit down and dangle her legs near a pair of girls, one who she recognized as her roommate, Hana, and the other with.... pink hair.

Hana kept her distance, unable to just immediately trust the girl. "So... you one of the uh..." she didn't know how to go about asking, was it bad to just ask in public? Whatever, she'd just shut whoever said anything up with her fists anyway. "You one of them gifted kids?" Leaning back against the railing and exhaled deeply. She felt like she needed a cigarette, but she didn't smoke; just felt like it'd make the scene more complete.
Ugh, I hated it when Derek would smoke in the old apartment. she thought with disgust as she waited for the girl's answer. Her glance shifted when she noticed another girl approach them. Oh, it's only her. Okay. She looked to Tahlah and gave her a head nod, acknowledging her presence.

Cal turned to look over to this cute little thing contently slithering among people to sit not too far off from where they stood and gave her a friendly wave but turned back to Hana who seemed to have a bit of an issue getting what she had been trying to ask out, "Yeah, and I'm guessing you are if you asked?" She leaned against the railing in an unintentional mimic of the asian girl and rested her elbows upon it to goes lax in her posture. Her thoughts flickered between how different it smelled when there was water around to how gifted kids just ran into each other here without trying. Maybe powers attracted one another without meaning to.

Returning the nod and wave given, Tahlah began to shift, slowly. She had been working on stopping the shifts in the middle, and almost succeeded, standing on a tiger's hind legs, skin striped, and a pair of ears twitching. Her hands had formed into paws as well, though they were more like human hands, curled into paw-shapes.

Cal had turned to glance at the girl they had both greeted just out of curiosity and had to do a double-take when she saw that she wasn't exactly secretive but quite liberal about being different. Right on little chick. She wasn't as spooked about this shit like the admin of the school were or some of the more heroic students who were still under the impressions of caped crusaders in tights and outer-panty wear, but, she wouldn't go summoning the dead left and right either - respect for keeping humanity sane and all that, y'know?

Tahlah smirked to herself, proud of being able to stop her shift, then resumed it, turning into a large Bengal tigress. She trotted over to the pink-haired girl, and gave a soft roar before shifting back. "I'm Tahlah." She said softly, Texan accent thick. "And you?"

Cal produced her right hand to shake with the shifter, "Cal, little chick. Physical department eh? Not bad. What year are ya?" To her, that was all fairly very impressive. It showed a good amount of reign over her power.

"I'm a sophomore." She smiled, shaking Cal's hand. "Cal. Short for something? Oh, and I love your hair. Makes you kinda a leopard 'round these parts, don't it? You know, never changin' spots to fit in?"

Cal pulled away and made a thoughtful face, "A leopard eh? I like the sound of that..." She considered dying leopard spots into her hair but shooed the thought away and just ran a hand through her pink strands, "S'short for Callisto, but I like Cal - or Pinky."

"Cal, then. My name means 'wolf' -Mom's Native American at some point- and it's my favorite shift. Would you like to see it?" She asked, perking up. This girl was probably an Oceanside student, too, if she didn't try to shoot Tahlah after seeing the first change.

Nodding, she added shortly, "Senior." Hana took note that Tahlah was a sophomore, she didn't recall learning that the last time they had spoken in their dorm. "What year are you?" turning to Cal and looking at her nails for dirt, picking away at anything that seemed to get trapped underneath. When was the curfew anyway? Not that it mattered or anything, but it seemed pretty late for them.
Hana shrugged off the feeling and waited for a reply.

"Senior." Cal yawned and gave a shiver, stretching and trying to move a little more to keep warm. She had disregarded Tahlah for a little and remembered what she had been asked, "Little chick, you might want to tone down the showing off, eh? I'm all for it but the normies will have your head mounted on a wall."
